My First Lover?

Ch. 2

"Y/N ARE YOU DONE YET?? I'M ABOUT TO HEAD OUT!" Areum yelled as she was tying her shoelaces.

"YES, YES I'M ALMOST DONE! GIVE ME FIVE MORE MINUTES!!" I replied back while buttoning up my shirt.

"ALRIGHT, I'LL GO START THE CAR!! HURRY UP!!" She said as she was heading out.

As I was about done buttoning my shirt, I started to apply my lip balm on my lips, but while I was doing that I caught a glimpse of a faint shadow pass by the blinds. The blinds are right in front of me, the direction I was facing  while putting my lip balm on. I hesitated to look through the blinds but I was a bit afraid to do so. I looked at phone at it was already 4:30. I had already forgotten that I even saw the shadow as I was  hurrying up to gather my things.

"Shit, it's past five minutes." I quietly mumbled as I hurriedly got my hand bag, phone, and wallet, then I quickly raced to the elevator. While running through the intersection of the hallway, I had accidentally dropped my wallet from my hand bag that was a bit tilted to the side. Without even realizing it, I quickly got to the elevator while it was still open with a good amount of people inside it.

I didn't notice it at first, but people were starting to give me scorching faces. Probably from the heavy breathing that I was letting out. Geez I really need to start working out with Areum at some point. Without a haste, I got out the elevator, fixed my shirt and hair while speed walking to Areum's car. I could see Areum's big head from afar as she waved her hand to me for me to see her. I could tell she was a bit upset as I got closer to her, seeing her expression, I tried to apologize before we got in.

"Ah ah. Zip it. You can tell me your apology later. We have no time to waste. Hurry n' get in." She said with a straight face but then smirking a little afterwards.

As she was driving, I couldn't even speak up for some reason. The atmosphere was awkward and weird that I didn't even know when to talk. I kinda glanced at her with my peripherals, but she didn't really have any expression on her face whatsoever. Dammit, she must be really mad then. I faced the window while biting my fingers.

After what felt like a whole decade, we came to a red light and Areum started to lower the music down and to my surprise, she spoke first.

" I didn't get to tell you yet cause I'd figure it'd be better to tell you tomorrow or never." She said as she laughed lightly while looking at me.

I turned around and faced her with a confusion look on my face.

"Go on." I said as I kept facing her.

The lights had turned green as soon as I had responded. As she was driving, she said.

"I'm not going to be living in this dorm anymore. My parents enrolled me in a good university for me to attend and surprisingly, they accepted me!" She said as she smiled while looking at the road.

"Really!? That's great! I'm happy for you!" I said while exclaiming.

"I know! This is a really good opportunity for me! but.."

"But what?" I said.

"But what about you? I don't think it'll be possible for you to go with me." She said.

"Pfft what do you mean?? The college is here, right?"

"Iowa."

"What?" I said as to being confused.

"The University is at Iowa, and you already know who's there."

"Oh.. I see.."

My "boyfriend Ji-Hoon" has been staying at Iowa for over 4 years now. He never even bothered to come visit me in New York along with Areum. He always said that he was busy and had no time. He really thought I wouldn't know what he was doing at Iowa but with the power of social media, anything is possible. I had found 2 months ago that the fucker was talking to other women at a club and was apparently CHEATING on me. Pretty sure he would think I wouldn't know but I never mentioned it to him so I just kept quiet about it and went along with his little "shenanigan." If I remember clearly, the last time I even saw him was at the airport.

FLASHBACK

As I saw Ji-Hoon walk past by me, I started feeling a bit melancholy, not knowing as to when I'll ever be able to see him again. I quickly catched up to him while tugging his coat. Before we even knew it, we were already at the gate for his flight. I started to tear up a little and I asked him.

"Babe when will you be coming back?" I said with a trembling voice.

He turned around and leaned forward.

"I'll let you know beforehand when I'll come back." He said as he smiled. "Ok?"

He patted my head and kissed my forehead after.

I nodded slowly while looking at him, smiling.

"That's my girl."

Before he was about to head in, he quickly gave me a warm, tight hug. I just wanted to be in his arms forever without having to worry about anything else. I had cried again after he had let me go because I knew I was probably never going to see him again. I shouldn't let this feelings of doubt take over me.. but I just didn't know how to feel at this moment.

He wiped my tears away with his soft, gentle fingers.

He waved me goodbye and I did the same. After that, it just felt like the world had completely demolished into tiny specs of pieces. My heart just sank as I saw him leave while I was paralyzed on the spot. This exact moment felt as if everything had just diminished from me. My feelings for him were everything. I loved him that much. But then I always thought, what did he feel about me? Does he feel the same feelings that I've felt for him all these years? I've never really had the courage to say so since he was one of those "aggresive" people. What if I had-

END OF FLASHBACK

"Y/N!!"

I regained my consciousness back and faced her.

"Yeah?"

"Were you even listening to what I was saying??" She said while giving me a stern look.

"Er.. um.. yeah?" I said while hesitating a bit.

"Oh my god Y/N, you're hopeless." She said as she tilted her head to the side while smiling slightly.

After at least 30 minutes had passed by and we had finally arrived at the cake shop.

"Alright, anyways we're finally here so get your ass in there while I take this call ok?" She presumed while finding her phone in her bag.

"Alright, I'll just wait in the line then."

I got out the car and walked over to the restaurant. I noticed that there was an ally right beside it. That's probably where the employees enter to get to their station. The warm and bright colors of the shop really catches your eye and makes you feel comfort. I don't know what the feelings were, but I just felt at ease just by looking at the colors and seeing the people inside. This made me realize that I've been in Areum's dorm for too long.

Just as I was about to enter, something didn't settle right in my stomach for a minute. I quickly glanced to my right and I could've sworn I had seen something. It could just be my illusions messing with me or it could possibly be my instincts. Unless I'm just overreacting from the empty stomach that I had throughout the ride. Ugh, whatever, this overthinking shit is tiring me, I should order a drink first for the both of us.
