“Taxi! Taxi!” Hazel yelled, waving her arms.
For the third time, a cab whizzed by, splashing water into her black motorcycle boots. Typical London weather, it was drizzling out. Hazel wanted to go back and quickly grab her umbrella but then she'd have to face Nikki and her sympathetic looks.
Hazel loved Nikki to death but right now, her sympathetic looks just made Hazel want to stab her in the eye. “I'm so mean,” Hazel whispered to herself. She didn't mean to be mean. Everything was just going crazy in her life.
The rain had soaked into her coat. Hazel hoped the rain hadn't soaked the blue blouse Nikki had lent her. Her hair had also become soak. Hazel took her brown hair out of the elegant bun Nikki had put it in and wrung it out, squeezing the water out.
Why did it have to rain on this very night? Well, things were already pretty bad so hey, a little rain couldn't make things worse? Hint the sarcasm.
Hazel wanted more than anything was for the night to be over. Why did she have to meet the woman who wrecked her family, who wrecked her mom and dad's relationship?Hazel could already picture her. Super caked on make-up, very tight, unflattering clothes and yellow crooked teeth. Hazel had her camera ready to take a picture to send to her mom. At least that'll make her feel a little better.
Also, today was her boyfriend's birthday. Hazel had perked up long enough to make a birthday card for Jack and got Nikki to take a picture of her holding it. Another thing wrong with her life, not being able to be with Jack. He was crushed when Hazel had broken the news to him that she was moving to London. Although both promised each other to try and make the long-distance-relationship work.
Hazel stared at the on-coming traffic, hoping that a cab would appear. The faint scent of freshly-baked bread wafting from the nearby cafe pleased her. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
"Hey, taxi! Stop!" The yellow vehicle pulled into the side of the road.
"Thank you!" She raced to the back passenger door and hurriedly climbed inside.
“Where to?” the driver asked her.
“Benihana restaurant on 77 Kings Road.” Hazel answered as she buckled herself on.
The driver pulled the cab back into gear and speeded off.

Hazel checked the time on her watch, “Hope I'm not late.”
Becoming self conscious of her appearance, Hazel ran her hands through her hair to smooth out the slight frizz caused by the rain. Reaching into her purse, Hazel grabbed her lipstick and re-applied a fresh coat. Checking her appearance in her compact mirror, Hazel lightly dusted her face with powder. “Good enough.”
The cab stopped. Hazel pulled out a crumbled bill and handed it to the driver, “Keep the change.” Hazel said before getting out.
Stepping into the restaurant, Hazel tried to locate her dad. Her eyes landed on a tall man with salt and pepper hair. Hazel put on a fake smile and ran to her father. “Hey dad.”
Hazel's dad stood up and grabbed Hazel into a hug, “Hey sweetie. Glad you could make it.”
Hazel pulled away and looked at the lady seated across from her dad. Well, Hazel had assumed wrong. Where was the orange skin? Where was the crooked teeth? Seated across from her dad was a gorgeous, curly blonde lady with amazing green eyes. Also, where was the tight, unflattering clothes? She was dressed in a perfectly fitted Navy Blue dress. “Hello.” she smiled, reaching across to shake Hazel's hand.
