Violet's P.O.V

I hate this. I hate Bruce for doing this. We were finally going back to somewhat normal. I let out a scream before leaning against the wall. This is all Bruce's fault. Ecco walks in with a blanket and I smile at her. "I didn't run." I tell her tears threatening to spill over.

     "I know give him time."

     "Mar is she alright?"

"She's fine." She leaves as I wrap the blanket around me. It's going to be a long night. I wake up to the door opening. Jeremiah walks in and I look at the ground.

     "I'm sorry." I mumble. "I didn't run. Bru-"

"Ecco told me." He interrupts. I look up at him.

"I couldn't get out they locked me in." I sob. He looks me over his eyes landing on my left hand. I see his frown and look at it. I must've busted it open, punching the wall last night. "It's fine." I say dismissing it. He chuckles sitting next to me. "I didn't wanna leave you."

"I'm sorry." He says and I lean my head on his shoulder.

"It's okay." I tell him. "I miss this." I say after a few minutes. "It being just the three of us, no cops, no Bruce. Just the three of us."

     "I do to love."

"I tried to escape." I bury my head in his chest.

"Let's get that cleaned up." He pulls me off the ground. I wince in pain as his hands brushes my busted open knuckles.

"Okay, maybe it does hurt a little bit." He chuckles leading me to a bathroom.

"This is gonna sting." I hiss in pain as the rubbing alcohol makes contact with my skin. He wraps it in bandages. "There."

     "Is Martha in her room?"

"Yes, she's with Ecco." My mood dampens at his cold tone. I sigh walking to Mar's room. I smile at the sight of her and Eco playing together.

"Mommy!" I smile as she runs over to me. "Come play with us." I let her drag me to the little tea party. "Where were you? Aunt Ecco said you and daddy needed some adult time."

"We just needed to talk, everything is just fine." After I put Martha down for her nap, I go to talk to the one still slightly sane person here. "How do I keep lying to her? Ecco, I don't know what to do."

"Everything's gonna be alright. She'll be okay. Jeremiah would never hurt you or her." I lay my head on her lap.

"I used to believe that with all my heart, but now..." I trail off. "He's changed for the worst. I'm scared of him. What if he hurts her? My life be damned. But what if he hurts her?"

"He would never do that. He loves you both too much. You should rest, you look exhausted."

"No, I'm okay. How about you? He hasn't hurt you, has he?"

"No, I'm alright. Don't you worry about me."

"It's my job to worry about you and Martha." She smiles down at me.

"I love you, Vi." What she does next surprises me.

"What do you think your doing?" Ecco pulls away. I sit up looking at him in fear. "Our room now." He growls.

"Please, don't hurt her, it's my fault."

"Room now." He growls again less patient. Silently I obey. I sit in my rocking chair reading a book to calm my nerves. Jeremiah slams the door shut causing me to jump. "Of all the things you could do to hurt me." I set my book aside and look up at him. "Was it her or you?"

"It was me. I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me." He chuckles.

"You, my dear, a horrid liar."

"It's my fault. I went to her. Please don't kill her."

"I won't kill her." For some reason that only makes me feel worse. "I'm having a special mixture made so nothing like this happens again. If it does, I will not hesitate to put a bullet in you both."

"Like I told Ecco, 'My life be dammed' just don't hurt our daughter."

     "Don't test me again."

"ENOUGH!" I shout losing my temper. "You can't threaten me, like that. I am the only person besides Ecco that's stood by you the best I can. You're treating me like I'm your enemy. I'm not, Jeremiah. You are my husband, and I love you. I'm so sorry, for what happened. But you do not get to sit here and judge me, especially after everything you've done." I gasp fo air as he grabs my throat. I claw at his arm

"Don't you ever raise your voice to me again." I nod still trying to get out of his grip. He let's go.

"You're better than this. Don't prove him right." I stand up staring him straight in the eye. "Please, show him you're still the man I married. Our daughter needs you."

"That man is dead. I suggest you learn to accept that."

"I refuse to. I know he's somewhere in there and I will not stop fighting until I bring him home."

Ecco's P.O.V

I watch as Violet leaves, "It is my fault, sir."

     "Is it?" I nod.

"I kissed her. Take your anger out on me, not her." I refuse to let him hurt her again.

     "Fine."
