Singing is a way of escaping. It's another world. That quote never failed to amaze me. Maybe it's because I could relate to it or maybe because I forget about the reality of the world whenever I sing or write the lyrics. I can't explain the feeling, it just carries me away.
It was during mu early teens that I discovered this feeling. From then, I used to sit in a corner and produce my own words. This was my passion and I so badly want to continue this.Coming to New York, I thought it would open up many more opportunities for me. But now, I don't think so anymore.
This was the fifth time I've been kicked out of another music company. I started applying for auditions to a few music bands two days ago but all five of them rejected me saying and I quote "We need a more mature woman".
The hell? I ain't a kid!
Even though it had just been two days,
I was already exhausted and on the verge of giving up.I sighed looking up at my sixth option 'The Rhythm'. This band was neither rich nor an official one. But I heard they were really popular among the common folks and that's what made me apply here. They were famous for their performances at local bars and pubs. They even got an opportunity to play in front of David Beckham! Hell! I would give anything to do that.
I walked into the uhh... Office?
This couldn't even be classified as an office... it was more like a tattoo parlour. The bell chimed above me and the girl who was standing there scrolling through her phone glanced up at me.She had raven hair and a lip ring.
Not only that, there were so many tattoos running along her arms and neck.
Thank god, she doesn't have any other piercings... no offence though. She looked, dare I say, intimidating but that thought of mine vanished as soon as she looked up at me and smiled with her dark hazel eyes twinkling up at me.
Wow, that's a really pretty smile. I felt really low before her with my boring auburn hair and silver eyes."Hey, you must be Olivia. C'mon I'll guide you to our other members." She beamed.
Wow our? Did I already get selected?
I entered into what looked like their practicing area. There were many instruments lined up ranging from a simple hand held tambourine drum to the huge piano. The mic stand was placed in the middle and the walls were painted a shade of black and dark red. The floortiles were black and white like the chess squares. This place was completely different inside and I was already in love with it.
I looked up to see the rest of the members smiling at me.
"This is Olivia guys. Lemme introduce you to-- oh shit! I forgot to introduce myself." The raven haired girl turned to me. This girl was something else. I laughed.
"I'm Cadiz.."
"Glad to meet you Cadiz." I replied with a smile.
"Now onto others, this is Gina, our rhythm guitarist." She pointed towards a bubbly girl with blonde hair beaming at me. I nodded.
"This is Ryan, our base guitarist." She pointed at a guy with brown hair and green eyes.
"Didn't think the new girl would be this beautiful." He smirked.
I blushed and laughed right after when Gina hit the back of his head."Okay, now this is our bassist Jay." He smiled and waved at me. I waved back and Cadiz moved onto the next guy.
"And this is our drummer, Zain. " He winked and said "Not Zayn Malik! Although I've the looks."
I chuckled and my gaze moved towards the last member."And this my girl, is our hot male vocalist-cum-lead guitarist. Woah didn't know you had such a long position." She laughed pointing at him. He had black hair and warm brown eyes. He smirked and said "And you Olivia, would be assisting me as the female vocalist."
