~A/N: Above is a picture of Leida and a link to the song I listened too while writing this chapter! (You'll see my music taste varies throughout this story.)
Please leave comments and suggestions as to what you would like to happen or what you think is going to happen. I have a pretty good idea, but I want the readers to be involved as much as possible to make my story better. :)~
Pov: Alex
"Alexandria. Alexandria Mazirz."
My breath catches in my throat as I hear a voice I haven't heard in months.
I begin walking up the driveway, but I soon hear footsteps behind me and a hand suddenly grabs my arm, preventing me from going any further.
"I don't want to speak to you." I say through gritted teeth.
"Let me explain."
I turn to Ashton, it's the first time we've been face to face in a year; and say "You've lost your right to talk to me. You abandon me after you PROMISED to text me or call me or SOMETHING every day. You forgot about your best friend- excuse me- your EX best friend. I don't even know who you are or what happened on that tour, but I'm damn sure I don't want to partake in any of it."
His face falls, and I see tears welling up in his eyes. I see the pain I just caused, and I regret it, but only for a second.
"Please." he croaks "Please, just give me a chance to talk to you. I'll do anything. Anything in this world I'll do just to get to talk to you again. At least for a minute. Please."
I hear the car horn beep and I turn to see Leida staring out the window at me with a "What the hell is happening?" face, then I turn back to Ashton.
"Fine. One. Time. Only." I say, hoping the pauses get the point across. He nods. "Come over here at 7pm tomorrow and we can go somewhere and talk, or you can come in. I don't really give a shit which one you do, I just want to get it over with."
Ashton nods and goes in to hug me, but then decides against it and stands there awkwardly rocking back and forth on his heels.
"See you at 7 tomorrow then?"
I nod. "I guess. 7pm on the dot. A minute late and you're screwed."
He murmurs a quick ok and a goodbye for walking back across the street into his house. I trudge to the passenger seat of Leida's car and flop in, trying to think of what in the hell just happened and what in the hell I just got myself into.
"What was that?" she asks, backing out of my driveway.
I sigh and pull my knees to my chest "I don't even know. I feel like I'm going to puke just thinking about it."
Leida pats my knee and puts Ghost Town on the radio, knowing it calms me down.
I look out the window, taking in all the familiar scenery as we pass by. It goes from modern houses with big yards and fences, to worn down houses with the paint peeling and the brick worn down; which is absolutely beautiful to me, to the bustle of the city.
A few moments later Auden turns into the parking lot of a cute little cafe type place and we get a table in the back of the restaurant.
"So," Leida said, taking a sip of of her iced tea. "What was all of that back there?"
I sigh, resting my head in my hands and look down at the table. "I honestly don't know. He caught me off guard and was begging for me to talk to him. I, stupidly, said yes. He's coming over tomorrow at 7. We might go somewhere, or we might just talk there." I take my beanie off and run my hands through my hair and take in Leida's expression, which isn't readable. "I'm stupid for agreeing to it, I know, but I just didn't know what to do. I know I'm probably going to get hurt in the end, I'll become the invisible girl again."
Before she has a chance to respond, the waiter comes over asking for our order, making poor attempts to flirt with Leida.
"C'mon babe, you're beautiful." He says.
"And also a Lesbian. My girlfriend is right across from me."
I snort and spit out my drink on the table and start laughing as the waiter makes a face and scurries away.
"Since when are you a lesbian?" I ask.
She shakes her head and says "Since he turned into an arrogant, full of himself bastard. Sorry for saying you're my girlfriend, I didn't know what else to say." Leida takes another sip of her drink. "But anyway, you and Ashton-"
"I know, I know. I'm an idiot."
"Not necessarily," she quips, "This may turn out to be something good. I mean, yea, he's an ass for screwing you over the way he did, but I guess you need to know why he did- not that there's even a valid reason for it. If you do get hurt in the end, let's just say that will be the end of Ashton Irwin."
I laugh and smile at her response. "Maybe this won't actually be that bad. But I'm scared. Do you think you and Deecan could come over at like 5 or something tomorrow to help me get ready and calm me down some? And can you two stay if we decide to talk at my house, but just go in another room or something?"
Leida reaches across the table and takes my hand in hers. "Look, Alexandria. I told you I'd always be there for you, and that I'd do anything for you, and I'm sticking to that promise. So yes, I'll call Deecan when I drop you off." She gives me a reassuring smile. "Quit working yourself up. It'll be okay."
Maybe she'll be right.
