As he lies a little far from her in the massive bed, she doesn't know why but she feels empty and distant. nowadays she is always having this feeling after going to bed with him. Feelings of running far far away from him after having sex.
She stares at her lap,the bed is so soft sometimes she thinks she is going to drown. she actually wants to drown herself into the soft bed cover.
"Are you Okay?" he asked softly.
She didn't reply.
"Does he really care for me?" She thinks.
"You feeling tired? Stay tonight here. Let me ask james to make some soup for you. You can have the guest room."
Even after being with him for three years, He didn't like the idea of sleeping with him in his bedroom. It's too private.
So anything new happening with you?
"Nothing much. I was working with an American company, thinking to put it down."
"Why? One second let me guess!"
She took a few seconds and then replied. "Because they are pressuring you? Expecting you to work harder?"
"Yeah. They enquire too much and expect me to be present in each and every meet up and supervise the whole thing. I have neither that age and situation anymore, I am not their servant!"
"So, you just gonna let this go? Do you remember, how happy you were for this deal?"
"Doesn’t seem good enough for my mental health."
"Think more and then take the decision."
"Thought enough, I'll leave it."
"You've come really a long way! Your parents must have been proud of you."
"Nice joke!" he said in a mocking voice.
"But, how did you realise that was the reason? I don't talk about business that much with you, I am surprised. "
"I guess, I know you well!" she showed her pearl-white teeth smiling.
"Well, I am really surprised!"
"Can I ask you something?," she then said.
"What?"
she points at his chest, "how old is that?"
"Will be 11 years after 2 months."
"Have you ever thought of removing it?"
"No it will hurt a lot"
"More than you are hurting already?"
He remained silent.
"You actually don't want to remove it."she smiles. Bit of a sad smile!
"It's none of your business, why you asking about it."
"I know so much about so many things yet I feel confused about your feelings! "
He stared at the carpet without replying.
"Why are not you removing the tattoo? Specially when it’s an ugly one!"
"I am gonna get a drink."
"You had a few glasses when I came, and you didn’t answer me."
"I am thirsty again," His dead pan reply.

Christine could not stop thinking about what Jenny told her earlier. Was that really happening with her? Was she jealous, she asked herself again and again. But why would it matter to her whom Adam was dating! She was supposed to be happy for her best friend.
She remained careless and unmindful for the whole day. Every now and then she looked at Adam! She knew it's a stupid thing to worry about yet she could not stop thinking. This made her drop all her papers once and then also dropping her coffee cup, she was lucky as it was empty!
"Where on earth is your mind at?" one of her colleague asked. She could not tell him that she was only staring at Adam at the time! Not a huge crime right?
To her Adam appeared to be happier than before. She saw he smiled everytime he looked at his phone. 18 times! 18 freaking times he smiled looking at his phone, the whole day. Christine counted.
He also gave him a friendly look to her after a long time, going for lunch alone. Probably, he is gonna talk to that girl in the break!
Seeing Adam happy was supposed to make her happy too, but that did not happen. The speed and the size of her tension grew bigger like a Dinosaur!
She recalled the time from her University life. In the whole time, Adam had tried to get dates three time and was actually successful all the three times! Girls said yes easily due to his look. Christine encouraged him each and every time. A girl from his department developed a crush on him first, but as he was shy just didn't know how to make a move! When he finally started to talk with her a little bit more, a week after that he learned she had started seeing someone! Another girl he really liked kind of gave him a heartache. He liked her for a really long time. Almost 4 months than they went for the first date! Everything went well for 2 months, they were getting serious but then her troubling Ex came back. Normally, what happens in this kind of situations, they get together with the Ex even if the relationship is a toxic one. The same thing happened with Adam, The girl was gone then, and Adam felt so betrayed that he lost all his interest in girls for two years! He liked a girl in his last year of University, the girl was totally into him! But he was so busy with the graduation it did not go any further, something he expressed regrets for once.
Christine was thinking about all these things and how the situation has changed for her.
First of all she can not understand her own feeling. secondly, Adam is moving way too fast. Who knows! According to Jenny, may be he is really gonna marry the girl and go to Africa in a month!
And among all these to her horror, she all on a sudden finds her ring finger to be empty. Her all time favourite ring, her lucky charm was lost! That snaps her out of her brain fog. Agitated, she looks for the ring every place possible but it was not found again.
