Ziva's POV
"Is he always like that?"
"Yeah, pretty much. Come on, get in the car." He replied.
She followed him, and climbed into the passenger seat. Tony pulled out his gun and loaded it, at least that was what it looked like. Ziva felt nervous, she had never been so close to a loaded gun before. She enjoyed crime shows on tv but compared to how she was feeling now, those all seemed so unrealistic.
"What are you doing that for?" She asked him.
"Safety, we never know what's going to happen."
"But, I doubt anyone would come after me right now, if I had protection."
He laughed, "you've been watching to many crime shows. This is real life ziva, I suggest you get used to it."
She sighed, and fastened the seat belt.
"Where are we going anyways?"
"To the crime scene."
"And that is?"
"2 blocks from where I found you."
Shit. So she did witness a murder. She only hoped that it was just a coincidence that it was similar to this serial killers M.O.
"You're worried.." he said, looking over at her.
"Yeah.... it just feels so. So real now."
"It is. You have every right to be worried. I would be."
"Really?"
"Yeah"
"I...didn't expect that from you."
"Why? Because I'm a federal agent? We have feelings to you know. It's not an easy job, catching killers."
"I know, it's just ... you don't really show it." She felt terrible, as if she had said the wrong thing.
"Yeah well...its there."
She decided it was probably best to change the subject. "So is it true that halloween has the craziest cases?"
"Yep" he said laughing, "I haven't had a normal Halloween in 12 years."
Ziva laughed, she was a little more relaxed. "What's the weirdest case you've dealt with?"
"Well there are lots."
"Pick one."
" I remember this one case. It was halloween and the killer thought the victim was a vampire. He drove a stake through his heart."
"You're kidding?!"
"Nope, that guy was a little deranged."
"A little?!!"
"Well, more like a lot. But Halloween's not all fun and games. Creepy murders, kidnappings, cult stuff."
"Cult stuff?"
"You know, like ritualistic killings, that sort of thing."
"Oh, Why did you become an ncis agent?"
"There are a lot of reasons. But mostly, to make a difference. We're here."
She got out of the car and followed him to the crime scene.
"Oh god...."
"What?"
"This is...its who I saw killed...."
"Do you know the person? So far we can't ID him, but we know he's a navy officer."
"No...but. I remember"
"Remember what."
"I...I was standing across the street and this guy was standing there."
"The dead one?"
"Yep, i don't know how I got there though... do you think me being there has to do with the murder?"
"It could."
"Uhmm, a man walked from over there." She pointed to a street a little ways away. "I didnt see his face. He had a gun. I... he shot. 4 shots. The guy dropped to the ground. I ran over but when I touched the dead guy, I felt something in my shoulder. Like a needle. That's all I remember. Then when I woke up I stumbled into the bar which is when I found you...."
"So you don't remember how you got there. At all?"
"No...I'm sorry, I wish I could help more." She looked away from the crime scene, trying not to replay the shots and sirens in her head.
