Ziva's POV
"So, how come you were covered in blood last night", Tony asked her cautiously. She stared back at him. She could feel his eyes staring back at her, as if they were burning a hole into her. A non existent hole trying to suction out all of her memories from the other night. "I don't remember really" she replied, just as cautious as he had asked her, only she had something to hide. A lie. She could have told him about the gun shots. The scream. The sirens, wailing through the night. "You're lying." Who knew that two simple words could set off an uncontrollable panic in her. Two words. Just two words. You're lying. But how could he know. As if tony had read her mind he quickly said " it's my job to investigate people, I've started to be able to notice right away when people lie to me. Listen, if our relationship is going to be built on lies, it's not going to work out. You need to tell me everything you know and remember."
Relationship. Our relationship. Their relationship. But what was this relationship. She stared into his eyes and wondered if that feeling of love at first sight was mutual. It was for her. The instant those strong yet gentle arms cradled her and she was pressed close to him, she felt safe. For her, safe was not just a feeling but rather, a person. Tony. Tony Dinozzo was safe. She longed to kiss him, to snuggle close to him and never let go, but to do that she had to open up. She had to tell him what she could remember. So the words fell out of her mouth. The gun shots, the blood, the scream, the sirens. Everything. Everything she could remember. The clubs blaring music and flashing lights. The whole world going black. But that was it. That was all she remembered. And from the look of fear and worry that had spread across his face, this wasn't good.Tony's POV
He stared at her, and could tell that she instantly saw the fleeting look of panic that had spread across his face. "What's wrong", she asked. "Did you say, 4 shots....and you don't remember seeing anything else...anybody else?" "Yeah, 4 shots. And from what I could remember, I didnt see anyone. But I don't remember much."
He ran his fingers through his hair obviously stressed and looked up at her. Her gorgeous thick, long brown hair. Her beautiful eyes. The average girl that wanted to hook up with him was nothing, nothing, compared to ziva david. "I have to make a call"
"Why, what's wrong? Who are you calling?"
"My boss, ziva, please don't freak out but...I think you might have witnessed a murder."
"What! How do you know?"
The panic that was in his eyes, spread to hers. "And, not just a regular average murder."
"Is a murder ever average? I mean what lines up with an 'average' murder at ncis anyways?"
He chuckled, but half heartedly. "No, not really but well. 4 shots. That's the same way of killing that ncis has linked to the death of 4 others navy officers."
"But...do you mean...a. A serial killer. What if- what if its just a coincidence?"
"Not only a serial killer."
She winced.
"This killer is a notorious, DC mobster. He's responsible for at least 8 different murders....but we've never been able to catch him yet."
"Shit, but...what if he saw me. I mean I'm a witness what if he tries to come after me."
"Exactly."
