"i will really fight him and his little girl toy" natalia snapped as she pushed past isaac, forcing herself into his and eleanors shared house

"sure, natalia, please come on in" he sarcastically mumbled, shutting the front door. he followed behind nattie as she made her way to the couch where eleanor sat.

"the nerve of this dude" she spat, ignoring isaacs sarcasm. she plopped down on the couch, and threw her legs over eleanor lap.

ellie sent her an amused look and let out a laugh, "you still upset about daniel and renee?"

"you're not?!" she asked, a shocked look on her face, "all this dude ever does is tell you how much he misses you and loves you... now here's his chance to prove it and he completely blows it!"

ellie shrugged carelessly, "it's not his responsibility to defend me"

"are you for real?" isaac cut in, "actually eleanor, as your friend, it is"

"he accused you of having a thing with zach" nattie reminded her, "the least he could do is defend you when his new girl toy is rude"

"i think your love for him is getting in the way of your common sense" isaac accused

"not for nothing, isaac, but it's none of your business" eleanor snapped. she pushed natties legs off of her and abruptly stood from the couch, "i'm done with this conversation.. with the both of you" she told them sternly, her gaze lingering on natalia, knowing she would be the one more likely to not drop the subject.

"alright, fine" she reluctantly agreed, "we just don't want you to get hurt again, lennie"

"and i love you for that" ellie expressed, "but i can take care of myself."

eleanor barged into zachs bedroom and made a beeline for his bed, throwing herself face down and burying her face into one of his pillows. zach looked on from his spot at his desk, a horrified expression on his face and his hand across his heart

"how the hell did you get in here?!"

"your mom let me in" she told him, her response muffled due to her face being buried in the pillow

"well, what are you doing here then?"

"rethinking my life decisions" she dramatically sighed, lifting her head from the pillow and properly settling herself on his bed

"join the club" he chucked, "alright, talk to me" he told her, spinning his chair fully around in order to give her his full attention

"natalia and isaac think i'm stupid for being friends with daniel"

"did they say that? or are you just overthinking?

"isaac said, and i quote, 'your love for him is getting in the way of your common sense'" she repeated what her brother said, "is he right?"

"personally, i don't think it matters what anyone else thinks" he told her honestly, "lennie, if you love him so much... why do you keep running?"

"if i was running from him i wouldn't be friends with him"

"you know what i mean" he rolled his eyes, "you're not running from him, you're running from your feelings"

"yeah, and what about it?" she asked in a defensive tone, crossing her arms

"what about it?" he mocked, "eleanor, it's not healthy"

"i'm scared, zach" she admitted to him, a slight frown appearing on her face

"i know, sweetheart, but if you really still love him... then you just gotta go for it".

after her talk with zach, eleanor found herself making her way to the seavey residence. she'd thought about what zach had said , went over it in her head a thousand times before coming to the conclusion that maybe he was right.

she had been running. from daniel? no, not exactly.. but from the feelings she still so strongly had for him.

she had yet to knock on the door and was sitting on their front porch, asking herself if this was something she really wanted to do. she was so entranced with her thoughts that she'd failed to hear the door open.

"eleanor? what are you doing? are you okay?"

she jumped up at the sound of christians voice and turned to face him, her cheeks a bright red. he was staring at her in concern and confusion.

"yeah! no, uh, i'm fine" she stuttered, running her hand through her hair nervously

he looked at her skeptically, "are you sure? what are you doing here?"

"probably making a big mistake" she breathed out, "is.. is daniel here?"

a look of surprise flashed across christians face at the revelation that she was here for daniel

"yeah, he's here... do you want to come in?"

she nodded at him and he stepped to the side, giving her room to enter. she made her way into the house nervously. her stomach was beginning to form knots. maybe this isn't such a good idea, she thought to herself, if isaac knew i was doing this he'd kill me.

"i'll go get him for you, okay?"

he left the room before she had time to answer, leaving her standing in the middle of the kitchen awkwardly. she began picking at her nails anxiously, reminding herself that what she was doing was a good thing.

daniel entered the room cautiously, almost as if he was afraid he'd scare her away. he took in the way she nervously picked at her nails and the way her eyes scanned the room, her face flushing red when they landed on him.

"are you okay? did something happen? what are you doing here?" he immediately starting spitting out questions, assuming the worst had happened.

"im okay, daniel" she reassured him, "nothings happened" — she paused and took a deep breath, correcting herself — "well actually, something has happened"

"alright" he nodded comfortingly, "let's sit down and talk about it" he gestured towards eleanor to follow him, which she did, over to the couch. they took a seat beside each other and he turned to face her, "what happened, len? you can talk to me"

she took a deep breath and turned to face him completely

"i'm tired of running"

want you back. [𝚍𝚓𝚜] Where stories live. Discover now
