Guardian

PART 4

In a days’ time they will embark on their toughest mission yet. They were assigned to the biggest pack and is rumoured to have the meanest Alpha. Mari has prepped her team, told them of the plan, what to do, what to expect etc. Etc.

They'll be introducing themselves as volunteers for child census and child development program for the Government. This has been their cover up story ever since they started doing missions, because packs will never interfere with “government agendas” to avoid suspicion from outsiders so they just comply. 

They only have three weeks to stay in this place and to execute their mission of  placing stones around the borders that will protect the village and villagers.

For the first time Mari talked to Zoe.

"Have you seen anything?"

Zoe just made a noise. “ahh” She doesn't know what to say. Starstrucked perhaps?

"You need to inform me first if you have"

Then Mari left.

Everything is packed everyone is ready except for Zoe. She had a vision last night, it was that of Mari and Ally crying. She wanted to tell them but will they believe her? How if they ask her the reason behind it? because the vision was just a snippet. It was very short and obviously useless for she doesn’t know the reason behind them crying. She decided to wait, hoping to have the continuation of the vision.

"Zoe, let's go" Zoe looked at Anna she looked like an angel with her platinum blonde hair and white dress.

"Are you nervous? Don’t be! It will be fine"

"Ok" is all Zoe can say, recently she has been in a one word trance. She can’t say anything more than that.

The ride was for only two hours because they are going to use the mystic road. All the Custorian ,thirteen teams on this mission, are going to take this road, at the end of an asphalted road is an arc with blue light glowing around it. At the opposite side would be two hours away from the town, village, pack or city that they were assigned to go to.

Mari has this weird feeling in her gut, ever since they've crossed the arc it's like there are butterflies in her stomach. Hopefully before they reach their destination the feeling will settle down and the butterflies will go away. 

After two hours they’ve reached the boarder of the Black Crescent pack, the pack they are going to protect. In this pack they will pretend to be just human, which is not difficult for Mari since she lived with humans more than half of her life and actually believed she was "just" a human being with simple dreams and simple plans. She was 

unaware that she will be one of the most powerful warriors in the Custorian history. 

"Ok clip your I.D.'s on girls. It's show time!" Said Mari while looking at her team

They have entered the territory and are already scouting the place while still in the car and because of their trained eyes they could see that there are werewolves hiding in the resonant trees aligning the road.

Thirty minutes after, they reached the pack house; it was almost as big as one of the castles in Mt. Celatum, Where most of them reside. They parked and Mari who was driving the car turned off the engine. She inhaled, the feeling is still there and it feels so weird.

"Happy face on" she told them.

Everyone did smile and got out of the vehicle. There were four big built male standing in front of the two panel antique looking door. One of them was smiling while the rest looked very uneasy.

"Welcome, I am Paul." the only smiling man warmly greeted them. " these are Joe, Tim and Mac" he pointed the guys at his back.

Sarah was the closes and extended her hand for him to shake. 

"Thank you for accommodating us, Am Sarah" she said and did the same and introduced the rest of the girls.

They were supposed to rent an inn but all the inns suddenly became fully booked, the truth of the matter was the pack master wanted to keep an eye on them so he allowed them to use some of the room in the pack house.

 they all shook each other's hands.

“Wow! What is this place?” asked Anna. Obviously she knew it was a pack house but they can’t suspect them so she pretended to be interested and asked.

“This place is a shelter for some homeless family, also a recreational facility” said the man in front of them. Off course that would have been a good explanation for the many families that are staying in the compound” It is divided into three buildings “He furthered explained he pointed to the right and said that that is where the rest of the people stay and the place that they are going to stay for three weeks is also where the men lives and where the owner of the land also lives.

“Impressive, we can’t wait to meet the head of this place and congratulate him for a job well done” interjected Sarah.

“Soon you will he’s a bit busy today”

“No hurry” Sarah waved her hand in the air while she walked towards the entrance. Soon everyone followed except Mari and the other men.

Mari was about to carry their bags when the three big built guys took their things and carried it for them.

“Thank you” she said while giving them her cutest smile.

The men were caught off guard and were mesmerized by her captivating smile, one of her many gifts for being a Custorian.

They entered the house and it was nothing but grand, everything looked expensive and unique. No wonder this pack has been around for many years. They were filthy rich.

They were ushered to the second floor and were led by the men to the west wing of the mansion. They were given three rooms by their request.  Anna and Zoe and Ally and Sarah will share rooms while Mari will be alone in one. Also all the rooms were adjacent to each other. The men as gentlemen as they are opened the doors and dropped the bags next to the closet and bid farewell, Mari walked around the room touched the walls and inspected the things inside the room.

No surveillance camera, good she thought but the walls are thin, they could easily hear us it’s not sound proof.

Mari went in the toilet. This is better we can meet here to talk. She brought out her phone and messaged Ally and Anna telling them to come to her room which was in the middle of the three rooms. Within a minute the girls were already inside the toilet.

“How is it?” Mari asked.

“It’s fine, I mean really nice” said Anna. “The room is really nice” Anna touched the walls and signed that it is not enough they need to find a way to communicate.

Ally went outside and when she came back she was holding pieces of papers and pens.

“Our room is also not sound proof. I think they really placed us in these rooms to hear us and eavesdrop.” Anna wrote.

 

“Twats!” Ally replied.

 

“Ok for now we only use our mobiles to communicate or emails just remember to erase it after reading. Now go and I’ll see you at dinner time.” Mari showed them her scribbles.

Everyone nodded and left the room.

When everybody left Mari sat on the bed, the feeling of uneasiness is still with her, maybe it’s because it is their roughest mission so far and everything in on the line. Putting the shield will only be temporary they need to defeat the Malignans before they harm the, innocent or not, werewolves.
