the new begining

Char  rushed out of her apartment with her 2 suitcases and looked at her apartment for the last time

she set down her suitcases and signed the paper the landlord had given her

this was it.

she was finally moving to north carolina

-backstory-

char grew up in Denver, Colorado and well it was nice and all she always felt like she needed to get out of her comfort zone so she decided north carolina

and also she was going to college there but let's go with the first option to make it seem cooler

-end backstory-

she thanked the man and handed him back the paper, picking up her suitcases and getting into the uber taking her to the airport

the trip was as you would expect, boring with crying babies and people doing god knows what in those airplane bathrooms

she got off the 5 hour flight tired as all hell considering all she could do is listen to babies crying while trying to drown it out with some shitty airplane movie

she struggled it hail a taxi until a nice man who was kinda tall, had wavy ish light brown hair, great style, and smelled pretty good if she was going to be honest, helped her get one

"thank you so much you are a life saver" she thanks him

"no problem anyway i'll see you around i hope, by the way my name is karl" he said sticking out his hand

"i'm char nice to meet you" she said shaking his hand

char got into the backseat of the taxi and told him the new apartment number

the ride was silent which was a relive fir char

she got out after paying the man and looked up at her new apartment complex

her plan was to get a part time job while in college and work multiple shifts on weekends so she could save up for a car

she didn't have one nor has she ever had one

and she really didn't want to keep taking taxis and ubers everywhere

she pulled out her phone to check what the owner of the building said her house code was as she walked up the stairs

she unlocked the door and looked as most of her stuff from the other apartment was already there considering she shipped it there

char set down her things and began to unpack, starting with her bed

she couldn't figure out how to re build her bed however so she figured she would ask for the neighbors help in the morning and just sleep on the floor until she got set up

-time skip-

it was almost time for char to go to bed considering how hard it was for her to keep her eyes open

she laid down on the uncomfortable wooden floors as she rested her head on the ball of clothes

she was almost asleep when she heard loud screaming from the next door neighbor

she decided to ignore it and closes her eyes again

it happened again

char was getting sick of the noise so she got up, fixed her hair, and walked over to the other apartment

she knocked on the door a couple times before a boy answered the door

his face became more clear as he stepped into the doorway, the light from the hallway shinning into his dark apartment

she looked at the ground instead, nervous of what they would say

"can i help you?" the voice said to her

"i-i heard screaming coming from this room and i was just wondering if you were okay."

"oh yeah i'm so sorry i know it's late but i actually stream on twitch and i was screaming cause someone killed me" he said with a hand on the back of his neck

char finally looked up and made eye contact with the boy

at the same time both their eyes widened as they realize they had met before

"your the guy who helped me get a taxi"

"that would be correct"

"huh what a coincidence that were next door neighbors" she said breaking eye contact

"uh i know this might be weird but are you free? i kinda need help with something if you are willing" she said fighting with the seem of her shirt

"uh sure give me one second and i'll be right out" he slammed the door in chars face

she looked up suddenly as the door shut making a loud noise

she waited there for a second before the boy came out

"wait so you said your name was karl right?" he nodded his head

"and you are? i forgot if you gave me your name or not"

"i'm Charlotte but everyone calls me Char for short"

"nice to see you again Char" he said as i started walking towards my apartment

"so what am i gonna help you with"

"building my bed, i don't know how to do it "

"well this will be fun to do at 2am" Karl said shaking his head as Char turned on the lights to her apartment

Karl followed Char to her room as they began to set up the bed
