Chapter 4 - Netero's X Grand X Mission

*Few hours after the chairman election*

The atmosphere is heavy as the remaining zodiacs and newly appointed chairman of the hunter association sat around the meeting room.

The election finished a few hours ago and the members are still at their whit's end. It was an interesting election, the result yielded as a surprise for almost everyone who participated.

As for Cheadle, this meeting is considered her first agenda as the new Chairman. She can't deny that she's nervous. After all, the weight of the responsibility as chairman of the hunter association is not an easy role to bear. But its a responsibility she accepted nonetheless that's why she'll do her best to honor the late chairman's legacy.

She cleared her throat gaining the attention of the zodiacs. She scanned the room, taking note of everyone.

It seems like all zodiacs are well accounted for, including Ging who is known to be the one who rarely attends and leaves at a moment notice.

Cheadle looks at the green fellow standing besides her.

"Now if you please show us the video Beans" she motioned to the personal secretary of the hunter association.

Beans took a video tape from a sealed box and inserted it into the video player in the meeting room.

As the video played, the zodiacs can see chairman Netero dressed in his usual attire, sitting crossed-legged in his office and the hunter association banner as his background.

"Ahem. Sound check" said a familiar voice from the video.

Everyone turned towards the video and listened intently.

"Chairman Netero..." said one of the zodiac as he got teary eyed.

"First and foremost" the chairman continued, "I'd like to congratulate you all for a successful chairman election! It must have been hard to handle all those impatient lot"

Chairman Netero's laughter echoed around the room. Even though its only a recording, hearing his voice and laughter brought out bitter sweet memories for the zodiacs.

"Also, I'd like to give my sincerest regards and goodluck to the newly elected chairman. I hope you'll be a better chairman than this old geezer."

Chairman Netero stared directly at the screen and smiled. Cheadle feels as if the chairman is speaking directly to her. She wanted to say how much she admired the late chairman and that its an honor to continue his legacy but she repressed her feelings. Its not the time to be emotional, not now. She composed herself and shifted her focus to listen to Chairman Netero's video recording.

"Now this old geezer has one final mission for all of you. I want you to go arrange a team for an expedition to the Dark Continent"

The zodiacs erupted to silent murmurs, except for Ging who remained quiet on his chair, his eyes closed as if in deep thought, and Pariston who's grinning as if this news is interesting for him.

The dark continent is a taboo for the hunters. It's an unknown beyond that no one dared to go before because it requires a lot of money and resources. Also, it is unexplored therefore the probability of going to the dark continent and returning alive is very very low.

"You must be talking among yourselves as to why I'm asking for this mission. Therefore I ask of you to please listen once more."

The zodiacs quieted down.

The chairman paused for a while as if contemplating how he will phrase out what hes about to say.

"There are other beings besides us. Beings that resides beyond our world map, the place that we call the dark continent."

Chairman netero raised four of his fingers.

"First, we have the humans territory. Our world, our home. Second we have the Elven territory. This is were the elves reside. Third, the Darkoid territory where the devils reside. Lastly, we have the Monstera territory where monsters and humanoid animal like creatures reside. The chimera ant that we are about to fight soon is a creature from Monstera."

A silence occupied the room. The news is too shocking to bear. The idea that there are other beings in the dark continent, is a huge blow to the truth that they know of.

"I can imagine your surprise expressions right now. I too, was surprised when the chairman before me told this secret.  However, there's more to the story."

The chairman touched his beard, a habit he does whenever he is serious or amused.

"Long ago, 1000 years to be exact, all 4 beings live together. No boundaries separates us. But this arrangement put us in a disadvantage.

Why? Because the humans are in the lowest part of the food chain. We are considered livestock  and slaves for the elves, devils, and monsters.

Finally, one human who mastered Nen found a way to separate each 4 beings to different territories. This Nen master is Shingen Ryu, the founder of the hunter association.

He created four nen spheres that generates nen lines. These lines separated each territory from one another. He then hid the nen spheres in each territory, where only a human nen user can access.

However, the nen sphere is weakening. That's why the chimera ant was able to enter the human territory."

Chairman Netero leaned forward, his face serious.

"I'd like you to determine what aura sphere is weakened, find it, and recharge it. I hope you understand the seriousness of this mission, for if you failed to fix the nen sphere, humanity is doomed."

The zodiacs wore dark expressions, each silent on their chairs. Cheadle hands are shivering in fear. She only hid it by clasping her hands tightly.

This is horrible. Terrible, terrible news.

"As for how you will find the nen spheres, I leave the explanation to Ging" said Netero before the video ended.

'Ging? Ging Freecss? How is he connected to all of these?' Cheadle wondered.

All heads shifted to look at Ging who was still sitting on his chair, his eyes closed.

"Ging, oy Ging!" Yelled the snake zodiac.

They can hear his faint snore from where he sat.

"This stupid idiot is sleeping?!" Yelled Cheadle as she stood up from her chair and threw the video player in Ging's direction.

The video player hits Ging straight on the face, waking him up.

"That must have hurt..." sad Pariston with a chuckle.

Cheadle is fuming in anger. Ging rubbed his face and stifled a yawn.

"That video took longer than I expected." said Ging sleepily. He saw the annoyed look of the other zodiacs. They stared at him as if they wanted to strangle him then and there.

Ging sighed and stretched his hands.

"Now then, what do you wanna know?"
