"Congratulations Mr and Mrs. Y/l/n, it's a girl" the nurse told your parents. Your dad chokes back a sob, reaching out his arms to hold you.
"Oh my sweet girl, i'm not gonna let anyone hurt you, ever" he tells you, kissing your small forehead.
Your mother smiles at the small interaction, looking back at the nurse. "Whats... her mark?" she asks quietly.
You see, you lived in a universe where every baby was born with a mark. Their soulmate, who they'd meet when they were older would have a tattoo that matched with yours.
"Lets see, it looks like... a hand holding a moon!" the nurse exclaims and your mother grins.
Your father hands over your small body to your mom so she's able to see you. "Oh my little angel" she says, rocking you gently, gazing at the little crescent moon on your left wrist.
"Shes so perfect."

"Mom? Why does everyone I know have a thingy on their skin?" You ask, you had just turned 12 years old last week, the age where you'd start asking questions.
Luckily, your mother had prepared for this moment.
"Well baby, everyone is born with something called a mark, this mark will help you find the love of your life- or as we call it your soulmate, your soulmate will have a mark that goes with yours, for example you know how I have a bird?" You nod.
"Well, your father has a bird cage" she tells your and you bite your bottom lip, nodding slowly. "I get it, so my soulmate will have like... a star or something?" you ask and your mom nods. "Thats exactly right honey."
Present day
"How does it feel to be 18?" your friend Ashley asks making you laugh, "Honestly? Not that different from 17" you say and Ashley rolls her eyes. "Oh come on! 18's a great age, it's when most people meet their soulmate!" she gushes and you sigh.
"Yeah, I don't think I'll ever find my soulmate" you say sadly making your best friend frown. "Why not? Come on! I'll help you, whats your mark? Wait no! Don't tell me let me guess" She says and you giggle at the hyper blue haired girl. "Umm, okay lets see, London's mark was a star and Ally's was a full moon so that makes yours a um..." you giggle, "Just so you know mine and my ex's marks dont exactly... match" you say and Ashley frowns.
"What do you mean?" you sigh, "Well at the time I thought they did, but looking back at it now I guess they really didnt"
"Huh, well, I give up then, what is it?" she asks, and you roll up the sleeve of your hoodie to show her the marking on your arm.
You hear Ashley whisper, "Oh my god" and you furrow your eyebrows.
"You'll never believe this but..." she rolls up her own sleeve to show your her marking and you gasp.
"Holy fucking shit your my soulmate" You say, staring into her eyes making her nod frantically.
You both stand there looking at each other like idiots for what seemed like an eternity before you had had enough of it.
You step closer to her, grabbing the back of her neck and smashing your lips together, moaning at the feeling.
She wraps her arms around your small body, pulling you closer to her.
When you finally pull away, you gasp for air making Ash laugh.
"We have to tell everybody" she says and you nod, pulling up Instagram while smiling.
