--------------------Friday rolled in like tumbling winds, and, though they were no longer on speaking terms, Potter invited Draco over after Granger and Weasley got back from their adventure around the world.
After a torturous ride on the Knight Bus and some cursing at Dre Head, Draco was walking through the door of Harry Potter's home and into the sitting room, where the three Gryffindors were already sat.
As he made his way into the room, he was met with three pairs of striking eyes looking back into his own grey ones. There was a moment of silence as everyone adjusted to being in the same room again after such a long period of time. Hermione Granger was sat in a small yellow sundress that was covered by her cascading hair. Ronald Weasley looked as though he had been burned by the sun every day of his life until this point, for his face was red as the infamous red tangle of strands on his head.
"Hello there, Draco," Granger said, a sweet smile spreading across her lips. "It's so lovely to see you again."
Biting back a habitual rude remark, Draco feigned a smile of adoration. "Granger!" He exclaimed with faux interest. "Welcome back!" He looked over at Potter to see if he had done well, and was met with no gaze at all. Potter was ignoring him, not completely, but enough. He was talking to Weasley as though Draco wasn't even there.
Granger stood out of her seat to come and give Draco the most awkward embrace he had experienced since the one with the Dark Lord. It was stiff and unnatural to hug your biggest academic rival, whom had also fought on the opposite side of a war as you had. Draco felt a slight sense of embarrassment at the thought that Granger had accomplished more than he had, considering her war victories.
She pulled back from the hug and looked into Draco's eyes. Her own brown ones were sparkling with interest. "Come...sit, sit..." she told him, beckoning the blond towards the sofa to sit next to her. Draco frowned, but complied. He was facing Weasley, who was just across from him on a sofa chair; Potter was on a sofa that was facing past Draco's head, so they didn't have to see each other unless they turned their heads to face each other.
"Ronald..." Granger said with a stern voice. "Say hello to Draco. You two haven't seen each other since school."
The red-head rolled his eyes and frowned Draco. "Hello, Malfoy," he spat. His voice held the venom of a thousand snakes in the way that he produced Draco's surname. It was almost as though he was murmuring the name of a dark enchantment, one that had harmed him in some way. Draco felt his own eyes drop to his lap. His shirt sleeves were pulled down, but he was sure that Weasley had already known that. He had probably checked for the Mark the moment that the Healer had entered.
Draco gulped. "Weasley," he whispered, nodding his head curtly. He did not maintain eye-contact.
There was a sudden spread of warmth down his neck as he looked over to see Granger's hand resting on his thigh in a comforting way. "So...?" she began. "Harry's been telling us that there's an issue with your magic, Draco?"
The blond raised an eyebrow. "You mean our magic?" he clarified, looking at Potter directly for the first time since he had sat down.
The brunet didn't say anything, but shrugged when he noticed that he was the one being acknowledged.
"Well..." Draco sighed, relaxing his posture before remembering that he was in the presence of others who were not Potter and fixing it. "Yes. There is an issue. I trust you were filled in on it?"
"Mostly," Granger shrugged, tilting her head to the side with a small smile. Then, she too straightened her posture. Her face lost its playful edge and became serious. "I'm aware that a potion was spilled on Harry that caused both of you to lose your magic, and that you've searched far and wide for a solution. I also know that other people have been able to feel your magic before."
