It had been a few weeks now, Jonnie had visited again with Caitlin and perrie and Alex were closer than ever. The progress perrie had made didn't go unnoticed by anyone, she was able to eat most meals in the canteen, sleep through the night and could just about manage sitting in the passenger seat of a stationary car. Unfortunately her progress wasn't the only thing that had gone unnoticed, since her and Alex were walking around the building more now a lot of people had noticed how close the pair were, most people thought nothing of it however there were a few that had their speculations which became clear to Alex when one of his colleagues pulled him aside as he left Perries room.
"What's going on between you two?" Dylan asked, "I'm helping her to get better so she can go back home, what do you think?" Alex said, "I don't mean that Alex, I mean how close you two are!" Dylan started raising his voice a little, "we're close because I've had to build trust with her to even get her to talk Dylan!" Alex said again his voice getting louder. "There's something going on between you, it's like you're in a relationship or something" Dylan laughed, "and if that's the case I'm going to have to report it to the boss" he added, "Dylan there is nothing going on between us man, she's my patient" alex sighed, "you can't even look at me when you say that, it's fucking obvious alex!" Dylan shouted, "how many times do I have to tell you! PERRIE IS NOTHING MORE THAN A PATIENT TO ME! NOTHING MORE!". "Right fine man, whatever you say. Sorry I shouldn't have asked" Dylan said holding his hands up, "yeah you shouldn't have, I'm here to do my job and that's it" alex sighed immediately regretting what he'd said, "yeah sorry, see you around" Dylan said walking off. Alex rubbed his hands on his eyes, he knew he shouldn't have got so angry about it but he couldn't have anyone finding out, he promised perrie and he wasn't about to break that promise.
What Alex didn't know was that despite him being further down the corridor than perries room she had heard the whole conversation and her mind was going round in circles, she was broken. Tears were falling from her eyes and she didn't know how to make it stop, she felt stupid for believing everything alex had said to her, she felt stupid for opening up to him and for feeling like he was the one. She could only think of the worst case scenario. Alex went into the store cupboard to get another blanket for perrie liked he'd said he would before dylan spoke to him, he grabbed the blanket and walked back to her room, he opened the door to see her in tears circled up on the bed, "perrie are you ok? What's wrong?" He asked making his way over to her, "go away!" She cried, "why? What's up? You can tell me you know" Alex said softly, "I heard what you said, just go away I don't want to talk to you" she sobbed into her pillow, "p I promise, what I said out there was only to shut him up. You know I didn't mean that" Alex said desperately, "I said I don't want to talk alex" perrie whimpered, "I know but I just wanted you to know. And I want to make sure you're alright" alex sighed, "alex just go please, get Georgie to come and talk to me if you want to know if I'm alright. I just don't want to talk to you" she cried. "Ok, I brought you a blanket, it's on the end of your bed. I love you" alex said walking out the room.
He walked as quick as he could to the common room to find Georgie and jade, luckily both were there. By the time he got there tears were brimming his eyes, "alex what's wrong?" Jade asked, "I fucked up big time" he sighed sitting down, "why what happened?" Jade asked, "Dylan pulled me aside near perries room and started questioning how close we were, it got a bit heated and we were both shouting a bit and I said that perrie was nothing more to me than a patient" alex explained, "that's not bad, you've got him off your back right?" Georgie said, "perrie heard everything G. She's in tears in her room. She told me to go away and said she doesn't want to talk to me. And when I left I told her I love her and she didn't say it back, that's the first time she's not said it back" alex said, the tears were now rolling down his face. "Shit, do you want me to go talk to her?" Georgie asked. "Yeah please. I told her I just wanted to make sure she was alright and she said that if I wanted to know to get you to talk to her because she just didn't want to talk to me" alex said sadly. "I'll go now, you stay with jade. Everything will be fine it's just a misunderstanding" Georgie said.
