Chapter 09

     The sun came through a crack in the curtain waking me up. I tried to roll over but something held me in place. I rolled over and saw a sleeping Eli causing my body to explode with sparks while I grinned.

I saw Eli's lip turn up into a little smile as he squinted his eyes to peek over at me. "Good morning sunshine." I sang feeling a little happier today.

"Morning." He mumbled.

I poked his cheek causing him to swat my hand away. "Why so grumpy this morning?"

He sat up in bed and pulled me into him breathing my scent in. "Do you remember what happened yesterday?" I nodded my head remembering that both our fathers were killed before we marked each other, at the thought of the mark I reached my hand to where Eli marked me and smiled to myself.

"Happy are we." He replied to my goofy smile as I held my neck.

I looked up to Eli making my smile grow wider. "Yes very much so." I felt a pang of guilt. "I'll miss my dad terribly but I was already grieving over losing him when I lost my mom."

"About that you don't know what actually happened to your mom do you?" He asked.

I shook my head confusion in my brow. "No I just know she was killed."

He nodded preparing to tell me what ever secret he had on my mom. "Baby you're mother was killed by one of our kind and your father witnessed it causing him to become a hunter."

"Why would he lie to me?" I whined.

Eli held me tighter giving me little kisses all over the spot he marked on my neck. "To protest you, let you keep your innocence."

I was upset with my dad but it did not last long. Before Eli was speaking again. "I need to talk to you about vampire business."

"Okay."

Eli took that as a sign to continue. "My mother is giving us until you graduate high school before we take over the throne as king and queen of vampires." I gasped overwhelmed with everything going on. "Only mates can rule and with my father's passing my mother can no longer be queen except for temporarily while we get prepared."

I started to panic. "But I can't be a queen I'm only eighteen and I know nothing about royalty." I rambled on nervously.

Eli chuckled out loud calming me down. "Calm down you're a royal now it will just come naturally." He looked to down at me in his arms. "Besides queen doesn't have to do much but be by the king's side for the most part there will be an occasional time where you may have to make some decisions."

I felt my heart race I don't know if I'm ready to take on such responsibility. "Don't fret about it too much you still have until you graduate before it happens." Eli reassures me.

I smiled up at him just as my stomach rumbles. Eli chuckled as he stood out of the bed and pulled me along with him.

"Breakfast time!" Eli stated.

"I thought being a vampire we wouldn't get hungry?"

Eli chuckled as he shook his head ruffling his hair. "We still get hungry it's not all about blood for us we have to eat real food too."

As we walked into the kitchen Dawn and Lilith were sitting at the table waiting for the cook to finish breakfast.

"Good morning you two." Dawn chirped you could still tell she was sad though. I could feel a lot of sadness coming from everyone in the room.

"Good morning." I sang trying to bring in the happiness.

As Eli and I took our seats Lilith cleared her throat. "Hey Destiny mother is letting me go to school with you."

I gasped in shock we would be going to school together. "Baby the vampires and werewolves have spread out throughout the human locations."

"What?"

"Yea so the school is probably going to be crowded not just with humans but vampires and werewolves." Lilith chimed in happily.

I groaned. "Great the school was already crowded with just humans."

Eli chuckled at my comment then everyone went quiet as the door swung open and there stood Jezebel. She didn't look as furious as yesterday but she still was not happy.

She waltzed in the room glanced to Eli and I before averting her attention to Dawn. "Mother it is not fair that they become king and queen when I am the oldest."

Everyone stayed silent watching everything unfold. Dawn cleared her throat before speaking not looking happy with jezebels outburst. "Jezebel you have not found your mate and they have mated." Jezebel looked angry at her mother. "You can not rule over the vampires without your mate by your side."

"You're doing it by yourself right now." She spat back to her mother.

Dawn stood up slamming her fists on the table. "Jezebel that is enough I have less than a month before I have to hand it over to your brother and his mate or the council will kill me."

"Mother why did you not tell me that?" Eli yelled.

Dawn looked towards Eli with sympathy in her eyes. "I didn't want you to accept it out of guilt of killing me." Before Eli could say anything else she turned back to Jezebel. "Now I am tired of all the resisting and fighting you have been doing and until you want to act like part of this family the royal blood no longer flows through your veins."

Everyone gasped I could not understand what was going on before Jezebel screeched her chair back and looked to her mom with betrayal. "You can't be serious mother."

"I'm dead serious Jezebel whenever you decide to quite being so defiant than you can come back and be royal again." Dawn spoke sternly.

Jezebel just glared at her mother before she ran out the door tears clouding her vision. Everyone looked towards Dawn as I still had no clue what happened.
