Chapter 05

Whenever I woke it was six in the morning. I groaned knowing I would never make it to school on time if I had to walk. Eli rolled over in the bed and smiled at me with one eye opened while he snuggled up to me.

"I need to get to school or my dad will ask questions." I stated.

Eli grinned and looked to me. "I'll have one of our secrets take you home."

I thanked him as I got up and put my clothes on from last night. Once I had got all dressed I walked down to the large foyer where Eli was talking to another human who I assumed was his secret.

As I made my way inside of my house I hurriedly got dressed I noticed a note on the counter for me. While I read the note I grabbed a banana for breakfast. The note was from my dad saying he was still out hunting I groaned.

I grabbed my bag and started my journey towards school. I finally arrived to school with ten minutes left before I was late so I rushed to get my things and get to class. The day drew on and on but before I knew it I was in gym, sixth period, with Lucas. As the class started we were instructed to stretch before we would go run our mile. As we were all getting ready to start the mile I felt it, a sharp pain in my chest, as my heart slowly stopped beating, my vision going black, and my breathing stopping completely.

Before I hit the ground I heard Lucas and other kids screaming my name. I felt someone catch as the coaches yelled for someone to call nine-one-one. 'What was happening to me?'

I saw a white light as I walked towards the light I felt this pull and then I saw, my mom. 'It's not your time yet sweetie.' 'Mom I missed you. Where am I?' My mother smiled to me. 'You died but it's not your time you have to go back you have a lot of work to do.' 'But mom how could I have died I was perfectly fine?' Mom just continued to smile. 'Eli.' She replied as she slowly began to fade. 'MOM NO DON'T GO.' I yelled but it was too late she was gone.

I began to hear beeping and voices. Slowly my eyes fluttered open and I looked around the white room, I assumed I was in a hospital Lucas and Scarlet were by my bed but my dad was nowhere to be seen.

"Destiny oh my god you're alive." Scarlet screamed.

I squeezed my eyes closed feeling pain in my head from her screaming. "What happened?"

Lucas stood up from his chair. "We were getting ready to run our mile in gym and you just fell out." He started. "Doctors said your heart stopped but they couldn't figure out why."

Scarlet nodded. "You're just young and healthy so they couldn't figure it out."

I just watched as my friends told me I died. I couldn't speak until I remembered my dad. "Why's my dad not here?"

Scarlet looked to Lucas as Lucas did the same. They then shook their heads at me. "No one could get ahold of him."

I froze remembering my mother's last words 'Eli'. My father must of found them. I started to panic flailing around I needed to get out of this hospital. I have to make sure Eli and his family are okay.

The nurse walked in and when she saw me she yelled for the doctor. "Calm down miss Slay it's okay."

"NO I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE." I yelled panicking more.

The nurse held me down as the doctor grabbed a needle. "NOOO PLEASE JUST LET ME GO I'M OKAY." I screamed and then the doctor stuck the needle in my IV and everything started to calm down.

Tears were streaming down my eyes because I could lose everything if I can't get out of here and save them. My eyes became heavy and I slowly started to fall into darkness.

Whenever I woke again Scarlet was signing some papers the nurse had. Scarlet looked over at me and smiled. "Oh Destiny you're awake they are finally letting you go home now."

I began to sit up but Lucas rushed towards me helping me up slowly. "Don't sit up to fast you're still a little weak from the sedative they gave you." He spoke to me kindly.

After we left the hospital Lucas dropped me off at my house and Scarlett offered to stay with me. "Destiny I could stay here at least until your dad comes home."

I shook my head becoming quite dizzy from doing so. "No I'll be alright thank you though." I continued. "You and Lucas go enjoy your weekend."

Scarlet looked to Lucas hesitant to leave my side but Lucas looked at me with my pleading eyes. "Come on Scar I think she can handle herself from here."

I looked to Lucas thanking him as Scarlet looked back to me. "Fine but if you need anything do not and I mean DO NOT hesitant to call me I will rush right back over here." I smiled and nodded.

"Of course you know I will." Scarlet smiled at that before her and Lucas left shutting my front door behind them.

I waited at least thirty minutes before I started my journey to the bus stop that would take me to Crescent Hill. Once I got off at Crescent Hill I was shocked by all the bodies laying around so I began to panic as I made my way to Midnight Village.

All I could do was hope everyone was okay. My heart started to speed up the closer I got to my destination I was seriously freaking out about what the outcome could be after what Crescent Hill looked like. Those were mostly werewolves there were a couple hunters laying about on the ground bleeding out.

'Eli I hope you're safe.'
