"So you want to do an exchange where you go somewhere you have never been. Surrounded by people you don't know? That doesn't sound like you Selena." I sat across the dinner table face to face with Jason. We decided that we hadn't had a date in a long time so here we are. At this fancy Italian restaurant down the road from my house. I had just told him how I applied for the student exchange program at the end of the semester. He is looking at me like I am 5 years old and I just walked mud through the house."Well yeah, I won't be all alone. I will be with Chelsea. We applied to be roommates and everything. I am excited for once; I am just waiting to hear what college we are getting placed at." I stuffed my mouth with pasta and looked up at Jason to see what kind of reaction I would get.
"I just don't understand why you would want to leave me." I looked up at him and instantly felt bad.
"No, no, no. I'm not leaving you or doing it to get away from you. I am just trying something new for once. I have never left this state. I have never travelled outside our city. I won't even be gone for long. I will be back for Christmas."
"I'm going to miss you so much though you know." I'm glad he decided to calm down and understand that this is what I want.
"And I will miss you more." We finished our dinner and split the bill before I drove us back to my place.
We walked inside and said goodnight to mum before we went into my room. We both got changed and lied down next to each other.
"Good night beautiful" Jason kissed me on the forehead before turning his back to me and falling asleep. This is normal for us. Jason wants to wait until marriage before we move further intermently.
I woke up to a kiss on my forehead before Jason left for work. I could barely open my eyes. Today was Friday and I didn't have any classes. I had to work from 10am till 2pm then I will be spending my Friday night in bed watching some kind of romance movie.
I tried to roll back over and go back to sleep but within 10 seconds my phone starts to ring. I roll over and see it is Chelsea so I swiped my thumb to accept the call and before I get the chance to put my phone to my ear all I can hear is Chelsea screaming.
"Oh My God. Check. Your. Emails." I couldn't help but laugh at her excitement and I had an idea that it had something to do with our exchange program.
"Okay, okay. Calm down and I'll check it." I put the phone on speaker and checked my emails.

"Oh My God. We are going to Stanford. Stanford University have accepted us. This is amazing. My dad went to Stanford. This could not be a better sign" I was so overwhelmed with excitement. I will be going to Stanford, the school my dad went to. I never really wanted to visit the school my dad went to but now I have the opportunity I really could not be happier.
