Damon rose from the couch and, after shooting Bonnie another discombobulated look, he made his way into the hall and started putting on his boots and leather jacket. When Elena made to follow him, Bonnie caught her attention. "Elena." She said quietly. Elena paused mid-walk and turned to look at her. "He needs to do this alone." Elena and Bonnie both watched as Damon walked out of the front door, closing and locking it without looking back.

Both girls stood by the couch, staring at the closed door for a few seconds, listening to the roar of Damon's car engine fade as he drove away. Once the room fell completely silent, Elena rounded on Bonnie. "Who is he going to see?" Bonnie gave her a soft smile and gestured towards the couch. "Come on, sit down. Let's talk." As Elena got comfortable on the couch, Bonnie poured them a half glass of bourbon each. "Thanks." Elena said thickly as Bonnie handed one of them to her.

The pair drank in silence for a few minutes until Elena repeated her earlier question. "Bonnie, who is Damon going to see?" Bonnie sighed and took her time placing her cup on the coffee table in front of the couch. Then, she sat back into the couch and answered. "Stefan. H'es going to see Stefan." In an instant, Elena was up.

"Stefan? Oh my god, I have to see him, I have to-!" Bonnie caught her arm again as she made to put her glass on the table and leave. "Elena!" Elena looked over at her best friend, a mixture of hope, hurt and confusion written on her face. "He needs to do this alone. Just the brothers, let them have this time." Elena gave a pained look towards the front door.

"But, Bonnie, it's Stefan!" She whined, desperation and longing etched on her smooth features. "Yeah, and Stefan is Damon's little brother. Even you've said how much he's been asking for him in his sleep, God knows how many questions he's asked that grave while he's been awake." Elena looked at the door for a few more seconds, then cringed as she finally turned away, nodding reluctantly. "Yeah. Yeah, alright." With Bonnie's hand still on her arm, she slowly sat back down on the couch.

"Damon needs Stefan's guidance right now. That's all he's needed this whole time. Stefan's his little brother, Damon will listen to him."

They drank in silence for a while, both just thinking about their lives and the current situation. Neither of them had any doubt that it wouldn't take much longer for Damon to come to a decision, if he hadn't already. Bonnie was right, Stefan is Damon's brother. Damon would listen to him, the younger Salvatore always seemed the be the elder's voice of reason.

"What do you think of it all?" Elena sighed and looked over at her best friend, a sad look on her face. "I don't know I mean yeah, I want what's best for him, but the thing that's best for him isn't best for us. I want him to be the father of my kids and I want us to grow old together, have a normal life, but we can't do that if Damon's a vampire." Bonnie nodded, sympathizing with her friends. "I just hate that, after all the talk about him wanting to be my husband and my children's dad, he's ready to throw that away to be a blood-sucking... monster."

At that, Bonnie actually gasped. "Elena, that's harsh. Damon is no monster. He can be violent and yeah, he used to be an ass, but he's not a monster." Elena started, realizing what she'd said. "Oh my god, no I didn't mean it that way." She said, running her free hand over her face. "That's not what I meant, Bonnie, I swear." Bonnie nodded and took Elena's hand in hers.

"Your under a lot of stress, I get that. Just... be aware of how Damon must be feeling as well." Elena let go of Bonnie's hand, standing up and nearly slamming her glass down on the table. "How am I supposed to think about how he feels when he can't even contemplate how I feel?" She exclaimed angrily. "He's not even considering our relationship! He says he is but he clearly isn't, otherwise he wouldn't be wanting you to find a way to turn him back! He's willing to abandon everything that he promised me just to get something he deliberately got rid of... he's basically saying he doesn't want the life we planned together anymore!"
