It's been YEARS since I updated this, but I got really depressed and forgot about it lol. (Thankyou to the kind commenter who reminded me of it). Anyways, here's chapter 10 :)

Previously...

Bonnie sighed again and pause the movie, turning to face her best friend. "I think he'll be happy. Like you said, he's getting the chance to see Stefan again. He'll love that, it's all he's wanted for nearly four years now. He'll be glad he got to thank him and say a proper goodbye."

Elena smiled thankfully at Bonnie, her anxiety eased somewhat. Bonnie turned back around to play the movie but, just as she did, the front door opened and a slightly dishevelled Damon walked through it.

Damon hung his jacket up on the hooks and kicked his shoes off, Elena and Bonnie watching him over the back of the couch they were sat on. Then, Damon tossed his keys onto the coffee table and collapsed onto the couch on the right of the girls' with a sigh. After a minute's silence, Bonnie broke it. "How did it go?"

Damon didn't seem to hear her: he was staring off into the flames, deep in thought. His face was a mixture of confusion, pain and worry, yet there was a slight glimmer of happiness present deep within his haze. "Damon?" Elena said, a little louder than Bonnie. At the sound of his girlfriend's voice, Damon blinked and came to his senses, turning towards Elena and Bonnie.

"Oh, hey. Sorry, I thought you'd gone to bed." He grumbled with a small smile. Elena and Bonnie exchanged a worried look, then Elena turned back to Damon, who was once again staring into the fire. "How did it go with Stefan?" Damon perked up at the mention of his brother's name, but he didn't answer Elena's question. Instead, he averted his gaze to Bonnie.

"Can you and your witches wait a while so that I can weigh out my options?" Bonnie looked uncertain, but she nodded. "Yeah, that's fine. I'm gonna dash, look after him." She added to Elena, who nodded and gave her a brief hug and thanked her before Bonnie gathered her things and left the Boarding House.

Damon and Elena sat in silence for a long while. Damon's mind was racing- all he could think about was his encounter with Stefan. It had been the first time he'd seen his brother in over three years; it was...strange. For that time, all Damon had wanted was to see and speak to his brother again. Now he'd had that chance, he wished he'd said more, done more. At least he'd got to see Stefan smile again, that was something Damon had missed more than anything else.

"Damon, what-?" Damon sighed irritably and stood, walking around the couch Elena was sat on and out of the room. On his way out, he announced "I'm gonna take a shower!" Leaving Elena stunned, watching after his retreating back.

As the hot water ran over Damon's face, he tried to allow it to relax him. The night had been an eventful one- finding out there was indeed a potential ritual to turn him back into a vampire, seeing Stefan again... it was all proving too much for Damon to handle. Try as he might, neither the sweet smelling soap nor the soothing hot water succeeded in relaxing him.

He knew he had to tell Elena, he owed her that much. He should also probably tell Bonnie; she'd sent Stefan to him, after all. Damon sighed and turned the shower off, towelling his hair a little then wrapping the same towel around his waist, grabbing a pair of jeans and a
t-shirt out of his wardrobe and throwing them on before heading downstairs to face Elena.

Once in the living room, Damon poured himself a half glass of bourbon and sat down on the same couch he had occupied earlier. Elena was sat in the same place, except she was playing a game on her phone. "I saw Stefan." Damon said to break the slightly awkward silence. Elena sighed, setting don her phone and looking at him. "I know. How was it?" She asked softly, carefully. Damon shrugged.
