[y/n] dropped the material Itachi needed onto the ground, her forehead sparkling with sweat as her chest rose and fell quickly.
"I'm out of shape," she mumbled to herself while Itachi examined the roof, carefully walking around, so he doesn't fall into the home.
"When's the last time you've provided maintenances to your roof?" he looked down to her, swallowing hard when he unintentionally caught a glimpse of her cleavage.
"Ummm, never," she laughed nervously, placing her hands on her hips as she looks up to him.
"Come here, let me show you how to make sure leaks like these don't happen again," he bent down to the edge of the roof and placed his hand out for [y/n] to grab it.
"O-Okay," her hand then found itself into his, a pink blush filling both of their cheeks. While butterflies irrupted inside her stomach, a gasp left her lips when Itachi lifted her up so effortlessly.
His other arm pulled [y/n] into his chest so she could balance herself before he lets her go. She couldn't help but feel flustered and annoyed. He made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Not once has a man made her feel like a love-struck teenager, yet Itachi did.
"So I made this paste..." he began to explain his method of filling in the smaller holes, but [y/n] was to busy staring at the way his muscles flexed when he scraped the paste into the leaky roof. His words were flowing from his lips, yet [y/n] wasn't able to pay any attention.
"Here you try," he smiled lightly while handing her his tool. [y/n] snapped back into reality and slowly grabbing the tool into her hand, bending down to fill the next small opening.
"Um, like this," her hand mimicked Itachi's, but he still made a reason to place his hand onto hers.
"Yes, but add more pressure," he explained while dragging her hand that held the tool through the same opening. Did he need to grab her hand to show her how much pressure she needed to apply?
No, he really didn't, but he wanted to touch her because Itachi knew that he would miss [y/n] after this day, because Itachi's responsibilities as a shinobi of the hidden leaf village could no longer be ignored.
The rest of the morning was filled with silence, and despite that, the two couldn't help but feel a strange tension. Both working on the roof, they began to fall into a somber mood. They had grown accustomed to each other these past couple months, and in all honesty, they didn't want to change the new routine they had gotten used to.
"Thank you for all the help [y/n]," Itachi finally spoke, his hands working on the last bit of placing the shingles onto her roof.
"Oh yeah...your welcome, but there's no reason to thank me any other person would have done the same," she smiled at him, her heart slowly breaking as the morning quickly came to an end.
"I supposed so, but you know what I realized," he continued the conversation.
"What?" she laughed lightly, doing her best to mask the overwhelming sadness she was beginning to feel.
"Arriving here with you is an undeniable stroke of serendipity." his eyes flash red as he took in the way [y/n] smiled, not once did he want to forget the way she looked.
"You almost died," [y/n]'s face contoured into a confused look.
"But I didn't," he responded as his lips curved into a soft-hearted smile.
