The main character is a church leader, and even though he's enthusiastic in expending himself for God, he's controlled by his corrupt disposition of fighting for fame and gain. He's always comparing himself to other brothers and sisters when he does his duty and he doesn't take responsibility for the church's work. In a church election, he intentionally doesn't vote for a brother who is better than him, purely out of jealousy. Through the judgment and chastisement of God's words, he sees that name and status are just Satan's invisible fetters that bind mankind, and that by pursuing those things, he is taking a path in opposition to God. He comes to hate himself and regret his actions, and starts focusing on pursuing the truth and doing his duty well. And finally, he is freed from the fetters of fame and gain.
