Chapter 2

Lins 3rdPPOV

Lin sat up in the hospital bed gasping. He reached over to Vanessa before realizing that it wasn't a dream, she was actually dead. The weight hit him instantly and he felt as if he was being suffocated. Panic raked his body as he thought about how his life had changed so fast yet was so similar even with his love dead. His thoughts turned even darker as he contemplated what would have happened if he was killed as well. He shouldn't have survived. How did he survive?

He turned around and read the chart on the wall. He had a bit of whiplash and passed out from an adrenaline crash. He should be released within the next day. His brain went wild once again thinking that he shouldn't be here, Vanessa should be. Vanessa helped people one daily basis, all he did was write a couple of musicals. Why did the world think he deserved a second chance over her?

Lin got thrown out of his thought quickly when Groff walked out of the bathroom connected to the room and rushed over to him.

"Your awake! Are you okay? Do you need pain meds? Water?" Groff said after almost hugging Lin, stopping because he didn't want to hurt the man who's been hurt enough in the last 24 hours.

"Some water would be great." Lin answered waiting to drink some water before speaking again, "I-is Vanessa dead? I-I remember how she looked in the car. It was awful."

Groff's demeanor changed slightly and he held Lin's hand to support him as he downcastedly responded, "They say she die on impact. I'm so sorry."

If Lin thought the reality had hit him earlier, he had another thing coming. He griped Groff's shirt tightly as he sobbed into Groff's shoulder. Groff gently ran his hand through Lin's hair as he whispered reassuring words in Lin's ear.

They stayed like that for a good 30 to 40 minutes before Lin slowly calmed down.

"I'm so sorry. Do you want me to have our understudies go on for awhile to help you with this?"

"No. Getting on with the daily schedule will help me. When am I getting out of here?"

"As soon as the doctor gives you another once over. Do you want me to grab one?"

"Yes, please."

Groff went outside and asked a doctor who didn't seem to busy to check out Lin because he was getting antsy. The doctor came in have Lin an uncomfortably thorough check up before letting him leave.
Lin signed the release papers as quickly as he could before leaving with Groff on his tail.

(AN: Got another chapter done. Sorry its short again. I'm going to start working on pacing the chapters out a bit to hopefully make them longer. New chapter tomorrow or the day after.)
