Mortals Meet: Tratie

Selena Benson:

I walked over to my locker, shoving people out of the way as I did. I enter my combination and swing open the door. I put on a fresh coat of makeup and blow kisses at the seniors in the mirror that I attached to the door. 

The bell rings and I slowly make my way to class. My blech blonde hair blows in the non-existent wind and I stop every once in a while in order for the seniors to get a good look at me. My pose meets me half way to math class. Ugh, math.

The only fun thing about math is that Mrs. Blackburn makes you put your phone on speaker if it rings during class. 

I walk into class and sit right smack down in the middle. Normally I would sit on the right side of the class but I was having a good hair day, so I decided to show it off. 

Mrs. Blackburn was ranting on and on about some boring math thing when It happened, Katie Gardner's phone started ringing.  

Ugh she is such a nerd. I hope the phone call is something super embarrassing, like butt pimples or moles. Ewwww. Just thinking about pimples gives me a headache. I snicker and Katie turns around and glares at me. 

If she's trying to frighten me, it's not working. I want to glare right back at her but the teacher is watching, so instead I just bat my eyelashes and look around innocently.

"Miss Gardner, you know the rule" Mrs. Blackburn calls out when Katie makes no movement to answer her still ringing phone. 

Katie sighs and drags her feet to the front of the classroom. I shift to the edge of my seat, wanting to get a good view of Katie being embarrassed. She hesitates again and I call out "Ooooo Katie's scared of embarrassing herself In front of everyone!"  

My pose joins in "oooooooooo" "little katie-watie" "Someone's embarrassed" Katie blushed bright red and glares at me. She slams her finger onto the answer button and holds her phone out in front of her.

"Hello" Katie asks

"Hi, katie-kat" a voice answers  

"What do you want Travis?"

"Can't I just call for normal reasons without you pestering me?"

 "Travis."

".......Fine. I might have burned down cabin 10. Just a little tiny bit"

"How did you burn down a whole cabin!?!"

"Hey! I said I only burned it down a little bit, and it's simple really. You just plug in all their hairdryers in the same outlets and wait 20 minutes"

"oh my gods! Trav, you can't just go around starting fires!"

"You're not my mother! Also on a totally un-related note, do you know any hiding places the Aphrodite kids won't find me?"

"Find your own! Good bye Travis! I have to get back to math"

"Wait! When are you coming back to camp?"

"Like you care, you probably just want to prank me"

"I mean it, when are you coming back to camp. I want to see you"

"Oh, after school, I think. That's really sweet of you Trav"

"Why do you sound so shocked. Is it a crime for a guy to be nice to his girlfriend?"

"You know what I meant. See you soon. Bye"

"I'll pick you up form school ok? Bye"

Click. The call ended. Wow, Katie Gardner. The schools biggest nerd has a boyfriend. She probably bribed him.

The bell rings and Mrs. Blackburn dismisses us. I speed walk up to Katie. (Running is bad for my makeup and it will mess up my hair)

"Wow such a sweet boyfriend you have, too bad he'll be gone tomorrow" I snarled.

Katie looked really shocked, like she didn't know exactly what I was talking about. "what do you mean?"

"oh come on Katie" I sneered "Everyone knew you bribed him" Behind me, my pose nodded their heads. 

Katie's expression changed from shocked to upset. "Would you like to meet him? He is coming to pick me up after school" She said sweetly.

I glared at her and almost laugh at the look on her face. "Of course. You won't mind if I tell some people, right? Oh I can't wait to see you get humiliated in front of everybody"

She raises her eyebrow and laughs "Sure, Bring your parents for all I care"

The bell rings, interrupting us. "Parking lot. Right after school. Bring your boyfriend" I laugh and turn on my heel.

Time Skip

I walk outside and turn in a circle, enjoying the perfect lighting. I feel the stares on me and I blow some kisses into the crowd. 

That's right. Crowd. I may have texted some people. I elbow my way through the crowd, stopping only once I'm standing right in front of Katie. 

"Well, well, well. Lookie here. Where's your boyfriend, Gardner" I laugh.

Suddenly Katie gasps and look over my shoulder. I turn around and see a very handsome guy with blue eyes and curly brown hair.

I strut over and  place my hand on his shoulder. "Hey handsome, how about you take me on a date tonight. Pick me up at 7 alright?" I bat my eyelashes and twirl my hair in my hands.

The guy pushes past me and yells "KATIE-KAT!!!" I turn back towards Katie and find them kissing?!

"Excuse me? What are you doing kissing my boyfriend?" I exclaim as I pull them apart.

"Your boyfriend? Last I checked he was my boyfriend" Katie yells at me

"You're Travis?! Katie's made up boyfriend?!" I ask the guy -Travis.

"I'm pretty sure I'm real and not made up but yes I am Katie's boyfriend" Travis tells me

"But- but. I'm the hot one! You should date me!!!" I wail. My mascara starts running down my cheeks, making me look like a raccoon.

 "Wow, such a sweet and emotional speech you just gave. Too bad you'll never see me or Travis again" Katie laughs.

I stand there shocked as Katie and Travis drive away. 

I clench my fists as the shock turns to anger. How dare he turns me down for Katie! Next time I see them I swear, I will get my revenge!

I hear the click of cameras behind me and I turn to see the crowd of students taking pictures of me. Normally I would be faltered, but I look like a RACCOON! I will not just stand there well my hideous face gets posted on thousands of sites.

So, I do the only thing I can do. I run. All the way home. I will never forget this day. This day will forever be marked in history as the day Selena Benson became.....UNPOPULAR!!
