"Agent? We need your input" Reid was shaken awake by someone. He didn't know who as his vision was slightly blurry from sleep and pain. He blinked a few times and realized it was one of the deputies. He pushed himself up and off the couch. "Sorry to wake you, it's just I need a little help at one of the newer crime scenes. I'd ask another deputy but they wouldn't help with this"

"Yeah, it's fine really. Uh, do you want me to get another member of my team?"

"No, they're all really busy and this won't take long" Reid pursed his lips and nodded.

"Ok, you drive" he followed the agent to the car outside. He got in and buckled up, watching the world pass by as they drove further and further away.

"Thank you for coming, I really thought it would be harder to convince you" the man said, smiling somewhat creepily.

"It's my job, uh where's the crime scene I haven't heard of any past the ten mile radius"

"It's a new one, recent. Happened while you were asleep"

"Oh" Reid nodded and rested his hands on his legs. It was then he realized he left his badge and gun on the desk next to the couch.

"Don't worry, you won't be needing those where we're going" the man said, as if he'd read his mind.

"Oh ok, I just always feel better carrying them you know?"

"I was like that not too long ago, I couldn't go anywhere without my wife. We joked once that we'd kill for eachother" the man laughed and Reid's unease grew. There was a knot of anxiety forming in his stomach, the further away they drove.

He chose not to respond to that and tried to quell the anxiety by watching the trees as they drove past.

About twenty minutes passed before they turned down a hidden road. It wasn't pathed and Reid noticed that there were no other cars around.

He frowned as he got out of the car, the lack of crime scene evidence was confusing to him. He turned around to question it when he was met with the bit of a gun. His world went black.

—-at the precinct—-

"Morgan go get Reid we need him on this and the meds should've kicked in by now" Hotch ordered, not looking up from the map he was working on.

"On it" Morgan nodded and grabbed his coffee cup. He headed out and towards the conference room, sipping the terrible station coffee as he walked.

"It just doesn't make any sense, the DNA at the crime scene wasn't either victim. But it wasn't one of the unsubs?"

"The lab analyzed it, the reports here" Prentiss noted, opened the folder. "This doesn't make any sense, it says this is Reid's DNA?"

"Guys! Reid's gone, his gun, badge and cell are still here" Morgan shouted.

Hotch looked up from the map finally and frowned. "Alright we need to get working on this now, all we can do is assume the unsubs have Reid. If that's the case the security cams probably caught them."

"Uh guys, I just got an email with a link to a video site" Garcia said through the phone.

"What's the video?" Rossi pressed.

"I'm sending it to your laptop now" the notification popped up and JJ clicked on it. They all crowded around the small screen to look. JJ thought how horribly similar it was to the time of Tobias.

The screen was black for a moment before a small light flicked on. Two more followed and suddenly Reid was illuminated in frame. He looked incredibly pale and there was a bruise forming on his eyebrow.

"Agents, you've been inside the minds of some of the most elusive people. Finding what makes them...tick" tony he voice echoed slightly as it came through.

"Garcia can you track this?" Hotch asked, not looking away from the screen.

"No, sir I can't he's rerouting through like a hundred different cell towers"

"Damn it not again Reid" Morgan cursed, hands clenching around the coffee cup.

"Throughout all this, research... all this practice understanding the people who you'd be least likely to understand... you don't even really know your own team mate? Is overlooking those closest to you the key in finding the criminals? Do you cut out those closest to you and focus solely on those who couldn't be more distant?"

"Well, it's time to figure out if you really know the man you call brother. Because there are somethings, that we know that you don't. A pair of complete strangers, knows your own family better than you. And we might just take your family before you even get the chance to know them"

"That's the female" Prentiss pointed out.

"This is not a 'fantasy' this is a test. You fail? He dies" they said simultaneously.

The entire team tensed as the video ended and it showed Reid just starting to wake up.

"We need to get him out of there but the only clue we have is that they want to play a game" JJ said.

"Which really doesn't help at all" Rossi sighed.
