*Rebecca's POV 2024*

I was born in the states and when I was five me and mum packed up and moved to London. I look very much like my dad the only difference is my hair color. I have his green eyes, dimples, perfect teeth, curly hair which I kind of get from mum too, oh and of course his cheeky personality.

From living in London for so long I have picked up the accent but I still have a bit of an American one. Never really shows though.

Anyways I'm on my way to school. School sucks ass let me just tell you that! The only reason I get through the day without ripping out my blonde curls is my best friend Arcelle (pronounced ars-el) or Arcy for short.

Walking into the school gate I see her standing in our horrid school uniform and a beanie. "Arcelle Lynn Gomez!" I shout at her. Oh yeah forgot to mention her mum and dad is 'Jelena' haha, Justin knows about her, he just isn't with her mum anymore and doesn't live in London like we do.

"Haz! Hey!" she screamed my nickname running over to me. Someone's hyper!

"Who gave you sugar!?"

"No one!" she said.

"then why so hyper?"

"Dads coming in after I go home from your house!" she explained.

"Oh." I sighed and looked down.

"You should spent the night! You know he loves you like his own!" she said.

"Can't Arcy mums got another appointment." I told her.

"Awe poor thing!"

"Yeah let's just head to Maths." I said walking in the direction to our first class. We go to a school that mainly has celeb kids so no one really cares who you are.

She ran up to me to catch up "Haz I'm sorry if I made you upset I know you want to meet him."

"Arcy it's fine, I just have a bad feeling that something's gonna happen soon." I told her.

"Babe your mum will be fine, didn't the doctor say she was getting better?"

"Yea she did, I don't know though. It's one of my gut feelings and you know how accurate they are."

"C'mon let's get this horrid class over with so we can go to music and get your mind away from things!"

---

"Mum! We're home!" I called walking into the house.

"We're?" she said walking out of the kitchen. "Oh hello Arcy!"

"Hi Aunt Taylor!" she said.

"Girls learn anything new today?"

"Pahlease when do we learn something new?" I said.

"Alright miss cheeky pants." mum said laughing at me.

"We're gonna head up to my room. Call when Auntie Selena is here!" I said running up the stairs to my room.

"Have fun!" she called up.

Walking into my room I threw my bag on the bed and walked over to my keyboard. "I am determined to finish this song!"

"I hear ya! Let's get it done!" Arcy said pulling out our lyrics we had so far. "let's start from the beginning okay?"

I nodded my head and began playing.

Singing together we started the song. "I remember tears streaming down your face

When I said, 'I'll never let you go'

When all those shadows almost killed your light

I remember you said, 'Don't leave me here alone'

But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes

The sun is going down

You'll be alright

No one can hurt you now

Come morning light

You and I'll be safe and sound"

"good how about this for the next part? 'Don't you dare look out you window, darling, everything's on fire.'" Arcy sang.

"Yes! Here I have the part for after that then going into the chorus again."

"The war outside our door keeps raging on

Hold on to this lullaby

Even when the music's gone

Gone

Just close your eyes

The sun is going down

You'll be alright

No one can hurt you now

Come morning light

You and I'll be safe and sound" we sang

"Now how about ooohhh or something?" Arcy asked.

"like this?

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh

La La (La La)

La La (La La)

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh

La La (La La)" I sang

"Yeah! Now I think this is how it should finish.

'Just close your eyes

You'll be alright

Come morning light,

You and I'll be safe and sound...

Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh oh oh. [x7]'" she sang.

"Girls that was wonderful!" Auntie Selena said from the doorway.

"Thanks!" we both replied.

"Come on Arcy your dads almost here and Becca has to go too." she told her daughter.

Oh great it's time for another hospital trip! Note the sarcasm.

"Is mum ready to go?" I asked my aunt.

"Think so babe." she smiled and her and Arcy headed down stairs.

I quickly changed my school uniform for jeans, and old t-shirt and a beanie. My shoes where downstairs.

"Bye Haz!" Arcy said when I walked down.

"Bye Arcy!" I said picking up my converse and slipping them on.

"Again why do you call her Haz?" Aunt Selena asked.

"Just cuz I wanna!" Arcy replied to her mum walking out the front door.

"Becca you ready to go?" mum asked slipping on her red flats.

"Yeah mum!" I said.

"Okay then let's go!" she held open the door for me to go out. Closing and locking the door behind her we made our way to her white range rover.

Getting in the car I turned the radio on and one of moms old songs was playing. "WE ARE NEVER EVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER!" I sang loudly.

"Rebecca this is a serious appointment." my said using my full name and turning the radio down.

"the one that says if your clear or worse?" I asked sadly.

"Yes, so let's just hope it's clear." she said turning onto the main road.

"Yeah let's hope it's gone." I said and leaned my head against the window.

Let's just hope the cancer is gone.
