Chapther 3

It’s been a couple of days since I came to Doldam. I have finally been able to get to know all the workers
here, including a friend of mine. Master Kim has kept a small distance from me since the day we talked.
And I have been also privileged to see his bold attitude. That said, I have also been looked down by him.
Guess I’m a little disappointment after all. Right now I’m in the staff room drinking my morning coffee.
Suddenly the door opens roughly. Kang Dong-Joo. That friend of mine. Also secretly a little crush as
well.
“What happened to make you this angry in the morning already?” I ask.
“ Master Kim, what else?”
“ What did he say to you this time? You’re a quack? Poor job operating? Failure? Coward? A fraud?”
“Are you finished?”
I shake my head while laughing, which also makes Dong-Joo laugh.
“You know you’re the only person in here who doesn’t take anything that he says into heart. You just
laugh it out. Why? “
“What’s the point dwelling over something that you know that you don’t care anyway? You see, I know
that everything he says is true. And I respect his opinion and review. He does need to learn to express
himself better and not yell at people. But I’m used to this kind of treatment. After all, I've been treated
like that all my life. That’s why I laugh it out, it’s the only way I can cope with things.” I say as I make
my way out. Before i can close the door Dong-Joo says
“ You’re also the only person who can make me laugh and forget all the difficulties of life. Thank you”
“ You’re welcome. You can pay for my service later.” I joke before leaving.
As I turn around I’m greeted by my new favorite person.
“Sunbaenim? What happened to you? You look tired.”
“ I’ve been in the ER the whole night. Filled with dunkards and minor injuries. Jane, where have all the
good cases gone?” In-Soo asks.
“I’m sorry I don’t know. But what I do know is that you need coffee and some sleep. Was that helpful?”
“Not really.”
“ If it makes you happy, know that I’m going to the ER now instead of you. Then again when you say
something like you did you usually end up jinxing it. So I guess in the end I might be the one who’s
happy. If that should happen I’ll come and thank you with a meal.” I tell him while skipping happily
towards the ER.
“Ohoh, Look at her. Smiling so big like some happy virus. She should buy me an entire restaurant if she
wants to thank me for a good case.” In-soo says jokingly to himself.
“ I doubt that that’ll happen.” Dong-Joo says. He heard In-soo and Jane Eileen talking outside before.
“ Gosh you scared me”
