Hayoung brought two cups of tea to the living room, Seoho sat on her sofa. His face clearly showing anxiety.
Hayoung smiled warmly and gave him the freshly brewed tea. It haven't even reached 8 am but something had happened in Seoho's life.
"So.. What happened?" She took a seat beside him, gently blowing her tea to cool it off.
Seoho gripped harder on his cup. "I was being followed.." He whispered.
Hayoung almost spit out her hot tea and it did burn her throat a little. "What?! By who?" She coughed.
...
He tied his shoelaces, making sure his sneakers were fit. Seoho loves to start his weekend with a nice walk around the neighbourhood, it was 6.20 am in the morning.
He took a deep breath and plugged in his earphones, enjoying the dawn with a classic music.
But the relaxing situation didn't last, Seoho felt something was off than his usual walk. He looked behind and there was only an empty street. Of course, it's only 6 in the morning and it was the weekend.
But why does something feel off?
He tried to shrug the feeling but couldn't, he kept looking behind just to ease down his mind but it only kept his uneasiness and discomfort increasing. A man in a hoodie was behind him, His mind must be playing, he must be paranoid.. He lowered the volume of his song just to make sure.
What he didn't expect was the sound of footsteps from the hooded man. It was closing in, Seoho walked faster and repeatedly turning left. He sneakily looked behind, the man was still following him!
Seoho started to run, turning right but unfortunately got cornered by a wall. He groaned and his heart was beating rapidly. 'Quick brain, think!' He ran pretty fast, managed to leave quite a distance from the man. But the man could show up at any moments.
There's no other way, Seoho was fairly tall but he still needed to tiptoe for his palms to reach the top of the wall. He heard footstep were getting close, adrenaline rushed in him.
'Come on!' He pushed himself up, he was struggling but the boost helped him to get over the wall. He saw the height for his fall, he gulped and jumped. He succeed landing on his feet but the impact caused him to fall on him bottom.
He quickly analysed his new surroundings and was grateful he knew which part of the neighbourhood he was in.
Hayoung's.
He could feel the man presence behind the wall. He stood up, rushed to get to the other side of the street without another thought.
Oh how he almost met his fate at the road.
...
"Thank god. You're still here.." Hayoung have never felt so relieved upon hearing one of her closest friend is still breathing.
"Yea.. I should really go now. I'm going to call my dad, I need a getaway from here" Seoho laughed nervously, he didn't want to trouble her weekend more.
"Wait.. You can stay here until your dad arrives." Hayoung offered.
They both knew the hooded man could still be on a look out for Seoho. Heck, going back to his own house could bring in more danger than ever.
"Thanks" Seoho smiled, thankful having a friend like her.
It took half of their day until his father arrived, Seoho bid goodbye and was eager to go back to his hometown. Anywhere other than his home.
Watching them drove away, Hayoung felt bad for Seoho to experience such things. Hayoung thought who could do such things to a sweet guy? Someone won't target him for no reason. Her mind clicked, as much as she didn't want to believe it but there's only one person who can pull out something like that.
Hayoung checked her phone, two contacts were side by side. Taejun and the shoplady. She could delay her meeting with the shoplady, maybe she'll meet her after what's important at the moment.
She dialled his number..
..
..
"Hello?" his raspy voice was heard.
"Can you pick me up? I want to meet you, let's go to your house!" Hayoung said, using her sweet voice.
"ah.. Okay, wait there" He sounded happy hearing her plan.
Hayoung hung up the call.
She went to her bedroom to dress herself up, she grabbed two outfits but didn't know which to pick. She turned towards the mirror, a smile formed on her face, ready to ask him which suits her best. But she only saw her reflection.
Her smile turned into a straight line. She softly knocked on the mirror, soon he appeared. Hayoung couldn't help but grinned at his face. Youngjo raised an eyebrow, "Yes?"
"Sorry to bother you but.. Can you help me, which one suits the best?"
Youngjo smirked, "Where are you going?"
"Haha.. To his house.."
The mood instantly went downhill. Youngjo knew who she was talking about. He smiled and pointed at the left one "That's pretty good for your date!"
She wanted to dig herself up, the fake smile and fake happy voice from him was definitely something she should be expecting but it still hurts her.
"Wait.. I need to go now, enjoy your date!" and with that, he disappeared.
The conversation didn't even reached a minute, she felt empty now that she's seeing her own reflection. She hoped her mind wasn't playing trick on her when Youngjo looked dejected before he vanished.
It was 3 in the evening, Hayoung waited outside her house. She wasn't looking forward on her meeting with Taejun, at all. Her mind was replaying Youngjo's face. Guilt building up inside her.
She heard a honk from a car and noticed the black car her boyfriend used.
She took a deep breath and entered his car, she looked at his face and huffed. Taejun looked at her with a smile but the back of his head was spiraling with thoughts. Why did his lovely Hayoung wanted to meet him?
