Four years later
The doctors POV
All five of us walked up to Jackie's flat. I was carrying Jay who was now four years old.
"Is it just me or did London seem a little more. Quiet?" Rose asked.
"Did seem a little quiet today, but I shouldn't worry about it, it's probably nothing," I say as we got up the last step and walked along the balcony towards the flat.Eve and Grace ran to the door and both knocked. Just as the rest of us reach the door it opens. I put Jay on the ground and he walks over to the door.
"Granny," Eve says and hugging Jackie, Grace also hugs her.
"Let's get in first," Jackie says and stands back letting us all in.Rose and I sat down on one of the sofas as Emma sits down on the armchair taking the bag she has off her back, she now carries around a backpack if we go out anywhere just in case.
"Can I sit on your lap mummy?" Jay asks Rose. She lifts him and he puts his back against the arm of the chair. Jay is quite quiet, a lot like Emma, but he loves the adventures we go on, we haven't taken him on one of the proper dangerous adventures yet, we think he's still too young. Although Evelyn and Gracie are the opposite, they are both always really hyper and are very talkative.
"Anyone want a cup of tea?" Jackie asks from the kitchen,
"We'll all have one thanks," Rose calls out. Eve and Grace both run into the kitchen.
"Can we help," Eve asks?
"I don't see why not," Jackie laughs."When can we go on our next adventure?" Jay asks looking up at Rose.
"Maybe tomorrow," Rose replies and grabs the TV remote from the table in front of her. She turns the TV on and the news was on. I looked at the headline and remember what Rose said earlier. 'People going missing at night and no trace of them disappearing.' We all listened silently to the news as Jackie, Eve and Grace walked back in with the tea. They place it on the table. Jackie sat down on the other armchair in the room and Eve and Grace sat down on the floor.
"People have been going missing a lot recently," Jackie says "the streets are a lot quieter if you didn't notice,"
"I did think something was up," Rose said. Jay tried to get up so Rose lifted him off and he sat down with Eve and Grace. All three of them were sat down playing around. We all stayed silent as the news came on again.
"People are going missing around London with no trace of leaving. Police are currently on the job looking for clues or missing people. Over one hundred people have been going missing every night for a few days now. Now onto the weather." As the weather came on I stopped paying attention immediately and so did everyone else.
"But people can just disappear," Emma said first.
"Nothing can just disappear," I say. "There has to be something or someone behind this," I say quietly to myself. Rose stands up and walks over to the window and opened the curtains.
"Mum," she said and paused for a second. "When did Sammy get a statue of an angel?" Rose asks and turning to face me.
"She hasn't," Jackie says. I stand up and walked over to Rose and she pointed out the statue. I looked at it carefully from a few seconds.
"Get out of its sight now!" I say to Rose and she quickly moves away without any questions. Luckily the stature was looking the other way. I closed the curtains quickly and turned back around.
"What was it?" Rose asks.
"Weeping Angel, I haven't ever come across one before, I've only heard stories,"
"But what's so bad about them? Rose asks going to take another look at the angel. I quickly stopped her before she had time to open the curtain or the second time.
"If they see you you can't blink or even look away from them. Every time you blink they get a little closer and a little closer each time. If it's now looking at the window and you open the curtain you can't look away or it will come for you,"
"What happens if it comes up to us?" She asked.
"If it touches you you would be sent back in time and there is no saving you. I know people who were sent back in time, there is no saving them," I say as Eve looks up at me.
"Can we go and see it?" She asks.
"Another adventure," Grace said looking up as well. Before Rose can answer Emma stands up and sits down in with them.
"You two are always looking for trouble," she says with a smile.
"But we haven't been on a scary, dangerous adventure yet," Eve says.
"Because your still a bit too young, maybe in a few years," I say and looked over to Rose with the urge to go and investigate why people have been going missing and also the statue.
"Should we go and see what's going on?" she asked quietly. I nod and Rose knelt where Eve, Grace, Emma and Jay were.
"You four stay here, we are going to go and see what's going on," Rose said hoping that I wouldn't need to tell Eve and Grace more than once, but of course they want to come and help.
"Why can't we come?" Grace asks.
"Because it's too dangerous," Rose answer.
"We'll be careful," Eve protests,
"Listen to you mum," Emma says "if you want we can play some games," Rose stands back up and spoke.
"We'll be back soon. Stay out of trouble," before we left the room Jackie spoke.
"And you two keep each other out of trouble," she teases.
"We'll be fine," Rose says and walks out the flat. Before we left I turned around to face Emma and silently thanked her for persuading Eve and Grace to stay.
