Awkward (Fred Weasley fanfic)

Chapter 1

It was a dark and stormy night....lol just kidding! It was actually the middle of the day and the bright Texas sun shined down upon me through the window. Most 11 year olds would be outside enjoying the cloudless day. But not me. No I stayed inside my cramped room and continued on reading my book. Most of the other kids at the orphanage thought I was weirdly quiet and that there was something off about me. I don't really care though. When they try to make fun of me I always have witty comebacks, or I just simply walk off, and they get annoyed and stop after a while. Because of this, I had no friends, but I was ok with that. I liked being alone.
The door slowly opened and Ms. Took told me I had a visitor. I have a visitor?? What?! I rushed down the stairs (which I hate I always fall) to her office to see an old man with a long white beard and cool clothes. He reminded me of the wizards in all of my books. "Thank you Ms. Took, could you leave us alone for a moment?" "Why of course sir." She replied. Without thinking I blurted out "Who are you?" The wizard man chuckled. "I am Albus Dumbledore, headmaster at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." "Wizards are real?!" I asked excitingly. "Yes we are." He said. "And you are one of them." Me? A wizard? "Are you for real?" I asked. He chuckled. "I am not lying. I can sense the doubt in you but also the hopefulness. Would you like me to explain?" "Yes please!" And he then talked for a good while about all sorts of magical beings, events, and places. Like Hogwarts. Once he finished he told me to pack my things and to meet him in the front foyer. I did as told and packed my many books and few clothes. I said goodbye to Ms. Took and walked up to Dumbledore. "Are you ready?" He asked. I nodded. As soon as I finished moving my head, I felt myself being twisted and warped. Once it stopped we were on a narrow street bustling with people. "This, Skylar, is Diagon Alley." Dumbledore explained where to get my school things and to meet him in that exact spot in precisely three hours. Then, he was gone. I guess I'm on my own then. When he left he took my things and I was left with a list of the school supplies. I didn't know what most of this stuff was, but luckily Dumbledore had written where to find these items next to them.
2 hours later
It had been two hours and all I needed was a wand and a pet. Of course the pet wasn't a requirement but I had been dying to get a small black cat since I was little. I decided to get the wand first, so I walked into Ollivanders Wand Shop and waited for Mr. Ollivander. An old man appeared and helped me find a wand. It only took two tries to find the right one. 14 in., Unicorn hair, spruce. I then walked up to the pet store and bought myself a small black kitten and I named it Aragorn. I began walking over to the spot where I would meet Dumbledore in ten minutes when two guys ran into me causing me to drop everything. "Oh my gosh I am so sorry!" They said at the same time. I looked up to find out they were twins. The two bent down and helped me get everything back on the cart. "Thank you." I softly said. "Woah you're American" the first one said and continued, "I'm Fred and this is George. Are you going to Hogwarts?" "Well obviously Fred! Why else would she be here?" "Right sorry." Fred said. "It's ok." I said back trying not to do anything to embarrass myself. Fred and George proceeded to tell me everything about Hogwarts and a lot about themselves. Turns out they were entering they're third year, they were both beaters in Quidditch(whatever that was), and that they'd look for me at school. Yay. "Look I'm sorry but I have to get going I'm supposed to meet someone in one minute so bye it was nice meeting you two." And I walked off. Why was I so awkward??
