Chapter 3

Sonakshi looked at Dev, she looked shocked and nervous, everyone looked at Dev and then Sonakshi.
Arjun:: Dev what the hell are you talking about?
D:: Arjun I'm not here to insult anyone neither I'm here to insult myself. I came here with a hope, a hope for future but I don't see that hope in Sonakshi's eyes. I was here thinking Sonakshi has accepted me, I thought we were in the same page may be she is ready to know me but I didn't know I was forcing myself on her
Aditya:: Dev what are you saying? We invited you after we talked to Sona
D:: exactly uncle you invited us after you talked to Sona but may be you forgot to ask her if she really wanted this? Sonakshi I don't want to force myself on you. I just want to ask you one simple question.
Sonakshi are you ready to marry me?
Sonakshi looks at everyone and Dev tells her to look at him
D:: Sonakshi look at me. Please tell me the truth, nothing will change if you honestly tell me what you want. I waited ten years I can wait more till you decide and tell me if ever we can be together?
Sonakshi is nervous and may be scared
D:: Sonakshi don't be scared, no one will be angry with you. I know for a fact my family won't be angry but yes they will be sad if we are not happy once we get married. I will wait for you to call me and tell me that you want to give me a chance but till then I won't even disturb you. You don't have to marry me right away but atleast we can start as friends and if you don't find me compatible then we can still be just friends
S:: De... De.. Dev!!
D:: yes Sonakshi!!! Are you ready to marry me now?
S:: NO!!
Dev looked at her parents and her family looked shocked and also felt defeated. They felt bad thinking that they were forcing Sona, even though she is their daughter but it was Dev who understood her. Now they were sure Dev is the right person but now they want Sona to realize it herself.
D:: Sonakshi, thank you!! And from today me or my family no one will disturb you. If you ever call me only then I will come and that too you decide what name you want to give to our relationship.
The whole family stood there silently but yes Dev's family was proud of him. They knew it must've been very difficult for Dev but they are proud that how strong he is in front of Sonakshi.
D:: uncle just a request, please from today don't say anything to Sonakshi, let her say to you what she wants and I'm not giving any time limit she can take her time.
And I'm sorry if I've hurt your feelings because Sonakshi is your daughter I have no right to question but as someone who is thinking of a happy future with Sonakshi I couldn't stop myself to ask her what she wanted. I will wait for you all to accept me only when she accepts me.
Dev and family left that day
Sonakshi's parents was not angry they were sorry and they told her that they will support her and accept whatever she decides they won't force her but yes only request her to think about Dev's priority is her happiness before his own. He could've just gone with the family's decision but for him it was her decision that mattered.
Dev's family was very proud of  him but also worried about him. He was broken from inside it was a very difficult decision for him but how could he not think of Sonakshi? How could he force himself on her? Dev next few days was trying to get back to normal life going back to work, keeping him distracted... few days passed Dev kept waiting hoping that he might get a text message atleast... but no he did not. Time passed but Dev and Sonakshi some how didn't even cross their path, yes Dev met Arjun his wife few times in coffee shop other than that nothing happened.
Almost after 2 months::
Sonakshi opened a boutique as she was always into fashion and wanted to do something her family was very happy that she is moving forward.
Dev had no clue what was happening in her life because he felt he doesn't want to know anything from outside till she comes and tell him.
At night Dev standing in front of the window looking at the moon suddenly his heart aches and tears started rolling down his cheeks even he didn't realize he was crying.
Gopal Kaka the very old house help comes in
GK:: Dev Beta look something came for you in the morning but you were not home
Dev took it from him and Gopal Kaka leaves
Dev opens the envelope, it's an invitation card for the inauguration of the boutique for clothes designed by Sonakshi and also there was a small note in a small piece of paper
I will be waiting for you
Would you come to pick me up just the way you did when we went to the prom?

Dev couldn't believe his eyes he wiped his tears as he felt something was wrong and read it again. He stood there looking at the note may be for five minutes and suddenly he just ran to his mom's bedroom shocking both his parents with his blasting speed entry.
D:: Maa!!! Maa!! Papa!!
Maa Papa:: what Dev what happened?
D:: look what happened? I need glasses may be I can't see. Maa read this!!!
Maa:: this looks like an invitation card!! To Dev Arora and Family.. oh wow who invited?
D:: Maa open it
Maa:: oh my god!!! Sonakshi's boutique!!! Wow!!
D:: Maa can you read the main thing now?
Maa:: what main thing?
D:: read that small note
Papa:: ok let me read, what??
Maa:: what, what? Let me see(shocked) what?
D:: Maa papa say something. Am I dreaming?
Maa/papa:: noooooo Dev you are not dreaming
Maa:: Dev did you fix what you are going to wear?
D:: Maa I just got the note how can I think of clothes
Maa:: oh Haan!! Oh God once sonakshi comes to this house as my daughter in law then I don't have to think about I'm your outfits
(Dev started blushing)
Papa:: Deepa stop embarrassing my son look he is blushing. Dev I think you should reply to her and also ask her what you should wear.
They hugged Dev and and he came back to his room.

Last time you picked my clothes for prom and I still have problem picking my clothes and I don't think we have enough time to go shopping because we can't go shopping early in the morning before your inauguration so help me pick a color.
