Chapter 9

Julie's POV

I walked into the music room to see Flynn playing the trumpet.

"What are you doing, and where is everyone?" I ask her.

"Spirit assembly. I was kind of blowing it off cause I wasn't feeling very... spirit-y." She said making me sigh.

"You ok?"

"Not really. I had this new plan to play for Mrs. Harrison. Hoping that she'd let me back in, but... I guess I missed my chance." I said.

"No. You didn't." She got up and we side hugged while walking to the assembly I assume. We walked into the auditorium to see Dirty Candy performing.

"Look who spent all her daddy's money on costumes and Katy Perry's choreographer." Flynn said as she crossed her arms.

"Well, it paid off." I told her as we kept watching. As I'm watching I see something pop up in the corner of my eyes. I turn around to see the boys. I move back so Flynn doesn't see me talking to... air.

"What are you guys doing here?" I whisper to them.

"We wanna see you stick it to the man. Isn't that right boys." Luke said.

"Man, I miss high school." Reggie said as he looked at Dirty Candy mesmerizingly. As I kept watching, I see Alex in the corner of my eyes. I turn my head to see him dancing. I slightly sigh, feeling more nervous. They really are good.

Then, Luke looks at me as if he's telling me not to worry. He hits Alex to make him stop dancing and nods at me. I look back at the girls as they finish dancing and Carrie says a few things before they all leave the floor. Then, Mrs. Harris and the principal stood in front of the school to talk about a few more announcements.

"Nows your chance! Go talk to her. See you in music class." Flynn smiled at me before she went into the crowd. I look over at the boys with a scared face.

"What are you waiting for? This is your time." Reggie said pointing to the stage.

"Yeah, I mean you look really nervous." Alex said and Luke looked at me worriedly.

"Like, you look, yack-in-a-bowl nervous." Alex said.

"I just, don't think I had enough time to work on the song." I said, looking at Luke.

"I wouldn't have given you the song if I didn't think you were gonna rock it, Jules. There's a piano on that stage with your name on it." He pointed to the Piano. I nodded at him and ran to the stage. By the time I sat down and was about to start playing, everyone was starting to leave. I looked at Luke unsure.

"You got this!" He told me. I took a deep breath and I started playing.

And find the spark" I was singing and I see everyone stop and look at me.

"Life is a risk but I will take it

Come on, let's run." I sang. Then all of a sudden the boys appeared on the stage, playing along. Everyone started to jam and cheer.

"Is this really happening?" I told Luke.

"Just go with it." He said, going to his mic.

"And times that I doubted myself
I felt likе I needed some help
Stuck in my hеad with nothing left
I feel something around me now
So unclear, lifting me out
I found the ground I'm marching on." Reggie then sang with Luke in the same mic.
