🐍Chapter 16: Home🐍

The room was cold.

The air heavy.

The green light inside the tank was the only light around, their faces all lit up as they stared in fear at the man with the red hair.

He stared at his hands for a while, a wide smirk across his face before looking at the children.

"Oh, how great does it feel to be back~! Twenty years of being a spirit and floating inside minds, it was so exhausting."

Gabe was kneeling on the ground, holding his sister in his arms, who was now unconscious. He had turned off the machine just before it could take all of their magic, so they were thankfully all alive.

Unfortunately, it was all enough to bring this man back from the dead.

And from what Savanna has said..?

They needed to get out as soon as possible..

He turned back, Lara tensing up in his gaze. There were a few seconds of silence, before a scoff was heard. "I never had planned to have children. But you get a plus since you were easy to manipulate~"

"W-What..?"

He didn't answer, his thin pupils shifting over to Gabe, who was suddenly lifted off the ground, his blood running colder than before. He immediately began to throw punches and kicks in the air. "Hey, let go of me!!!"

A laugh escaped the man's lips. "You got a temper, I like that."

However, his smug smirk soon morphed into a confused look, then one of recognition. "... you look so much like.."

There was a flicker in his eyes, a switch in the colors for just a split second.

He then let out a deep growl of anger, his hands bawling into tight fists as a dark green mist surrounded the young boy's neck, slowly taking the air out of his lungs.

Gabe desperately gasped for air, scratching his neck out of instinct. That's when a pink fireball crashed into the man's face, Gabe falling with a harsh thud on the floor, coughing and gasping for air.

Fiona was already holding Nathan and Cassie. "Hurry, we need to get them out of here!!!"

With one last deep breath, he ran over, picking up Jade and Jake using all of his strength, and making it out the room doors.

Lara was about to follow, already forming an attack, when Ryan lifted his hand.

"Don't."

"But- they're escaping!"

"Let them." There was confidence in his smirk as he stared to where they had left.

"I want them to warn the others~.."

It wasn't long until they made it out of the strange ruins that covered the place they were in. They had a tracking orb already leading into the forest, ready to back home.

There was a lot of explaining needed, from both sides..

Gabe had formed several healing orbs, placing one over one person to give them some energy, all of them waking up a little while later.

Jade blinked a few times. "W-What.. Where..?"

"C'mon, we need to head home.." Fi said as she helped her up, then helping the others, and they all followed the orb back home.

Gently gripping her shirt sleeves, Sage was sitting in the living room couch, bags under her slightly red eyes.

It had been a rough week, really rough..

Her two oldest children, along with her niece, missing without a trace..

Tara And Simon had been staying with her, helping her look after Sahara while their parents and uncle helped the police look for the others.

Sage wanted to help search for them, but someone had to keep an eye on the kids.

Besides, it was too dangerous because of the- ...

...

She let out a heavy sigh, burying her face in her hands. Simon leaned against her arm, trying to comfort his aunt.

That's when the door suddenly opened, revealing her three lost kids, bruised and tired, hungry, thirsty, but finally home.

Her eyes immediately grew wide, and she didn't hesitate to run over and wrap the three of them in a tight hug.

"Y-You're okay...!!!"

"Mom!!!" The twins exclaimed back, all three hugging her back with wide smiles and tears forming in their eyes.

It had been so long since they felt this happy, this relieved..

This warmth..

Sage pulled away. "Where have you been all this time?!?"

A few seconds of silence passed, the kids sharing glances before Gabe let out a heavy sigh.

"It's.. a really long story.."
