🐍Chapter 17: Reunion🐍

I finished my glass of water, leaning against my mom's side. She had called the others, and it was planned to call the police way later because of how long that process would take.

Jade was snuggled against Dad's chest, finishing her food while Fi leaned against my uncle's side. Jade's new friends, Cassandra and Jakob, were at the other couch, also eating and regaining energy, while little Nathan was in my room asleep.

My aunt Iv walked into the room. "I just got off the phone with Mabel, they'll be here to get Nathan as soon as they can.

The adults nodded, and she sat beside Fi as Simon and Tara joined them. I also had Sahara on my lap since she missed us a lot as well.

After about a minute of silence, I bit my lip, then looked up at my mom. "Mom, I think we deserve a complete explanation.."

She looked up at my dad, who gave her a small nod. "They deserve to know, Sage.."

Letting out a sigh, she formed a small blue orb. "You're right..."

A light blue glow surrounded her head, two large fluffy black ears appearing on her head, along with a huge black fox tail.

Jade and I exchanged a glance in surprise, and Mom then looked at our uncle, who spread two giant brown hawk wings from his back.

Sahara had to sand-colored ears and tail as well, Mom gently picking her up. "... Noah and I, we're a demon's descendants.."

"Bill Cipher's children, we've been told.." Jade spoke, placing her empty food place on the table. "He's very popular in the magic community.."

I then looked at my dad. "And you guys are normal humans..?"

He shook his head. "Not exactly.. We're humans, but.. well.."

Iv was already juggling a small normal looking fireball with her fingers. "We're far more awesome.."

Jade sat up. "Why did you all keep this a secret from us.."

They all shared glances, Noah speaking. "For your safety.."

"To put it shortly, we all had a traumatic childhood.. We lost our parents really young, and we were constantly targets for danger.. We moved away and kept it all a secret so that none of you would go through the same things we did.." Mom explained.

"You gotta admit that's a valid point after what we just went threw, Gabriel.." Fiona added as she looked at me.

I looked down in regret. "Yeah.."

If I had only kept my mouth shut...

Just this once...

My mom hugged me tight, and I could see more tears forming in her eyes. "We're just glad you're all alive and in one piece..."

I hesitated for a while, but smiled a bit as I hugged her back, Dad wrapping us in a hug too.

I really did miss them...

"So wait a minute, you three already know how to use magic?" Tara raised an eyebrow.

The three of us exchanged glances. Jade formed a light bluish green orb with tiny black sparkles around it, Fiona made a magenta flame hover above her hand, and I formed a strange frozen fireball.

I didn't even understand what my 'element' was.

"The Frost Flame." I looked at my mom as she spoke, raising an eyebrow at her. She chuckled a bit awkwardly. "Part of the Cipher powers is being able to read minds."

"Ohhh, that's how you always know when we lie!" Jade exclaimed in realization.

Fiona crossed her arms with a huff. "That is all sorts of unfair." Her dad ruffled her hair with a chuckle as she pouted.

Mom placed a kiss on my head. "It was a mistake to keep it a secret though, you should've at least been prepared incase anything happened.."

"They handled themselves really well though.." Dad added with a small smile, to which she smiled back.

"Yeah, and we're really proud of you guys for it.."

"I just have one question.." We all looked at Jade, who had her arms crossed. "... Who exactly is this Ryan Riverton..? We've only heard bits and pieces, but enough to know he's a bad guy.."

"Yeah, when he woke up from death, he called Gabe 'Aiden', and he sure as heck wasn't happy.." Fiona added.

Dad's expression grew sad, leaning back against the couch as a few seconds of silence filled the room.

"... he used to be my best friend back when we were children, Fi's age actually.. But.. uh.."

"He killed our parents out of revenge." Iv answered for him, our eyes widening.

Jade sat up. "What..?! Revenge for what..?!"

"They were policemen, his dad was a criminal, they put him in jail, he died in jail, and someone it was our parents' fault in his eyes."

She said it with such an expressionless face, while Dad let his hair cover his eyes as he remained silent. This definitely still affected them even after decades, but I can't blame them..

My mom placed a kiss on his cheek for comfort, getting a small smile from him before looking down at him. "We're sorry for all the secrets.."

"It's okay, we- ... I'm sorry for not trusting you.."

She gave me a small squeeze as a hug, smiling a bit, and I smiled back.

"As much as I want this family reunion to continue.." We all turned to my uncle Noah, who now had a serious expression. "With Riverton back, we have a huge problem on our hands."

My dad let out a heavy sigh. "There's not much we're able to do anyways.."

There had to be something though...
