"in that moment, i swore the front that malfoy always put up came down in an instant when i saw the way he looked at the stars."

"Draco Malfoy?"
I felt an instant rush of sobriety as he turned to look at me. He shifted his weight towards me, leaning in closer as I moved my head back. We haven't broken eye contact for a good while- although I'm not sure why he's staring without saying a single word to me. His eyes are the most vibrant blue I've ever seen, even more so up close.
"You reek of alcohol." He rolls his eyes and slumps back against the wall.
"I- I mean it wasn't on purpose," I stuttered. "Seamus spiked the punch. I'm sure there's loads of others actually enjoying it, unlike yourself." I turn away from him, displeased with his arrogant nature. He's never changed.
Malfoy smirked and pushed his hair back. "Potter not enough fun for you then? Can't say I'm surprised."
So he knew I had been at the ball with Harry, but how? We're not acquainted in the slightest, however I presume he had been keeping his eye out for Harry as he usually does. For someone who hates him with a passion, he's awfully obsessed with his whereabouts.
"Harry is my friend. And I'd appreciate it if you didn't speak of him like that." I grabbed my shoes and adjusted my dress as I stood up and walked to the door. I should've left when I saw a slytherin, no less Malfoy occupying the classroom. No wonder he's unable to make friends outside of his own house- a right git from the very start.
"No, stay." He took hold of my hand as I got up and pulled me back down to where we were seated. "Forgive me for being rude, I've had quite a terrible night." That makes two of us.
"I could say the same... well it started off wonderfully, but I needed to get away from it all."
"Why's that?" He questioned.
I bit my lip and felt the anxiety from 15 minutes ago creep back in. "Reminds me of my dead boyfriend, is all." I lowered my head and felt a tear roll down my cheek slowly.
We sat in silence for a while. I could sense he didn't want to push me past my boundaries and bring up something painful, and I respected him for that. I listened to the soft rhythm of his breathing as I locked my sight on the back window, watching the glow of the moon as it began to grow darker outside. It reminds me of when Cedric and I used to sneak out to Hagrid's hut some nights and look at the moon from the edge of the lake, watching the tides push back and forth. Everything reminds me of Cedric- and that's the problem.
"Do you want to do something?" Draco's deep voice interrupted my train of thought as I turn my head around to look at him.
"...Something? You perverted bloke, you don't even know my name!" I scoffed as I shook my head.
"That's not what I meant, don't flatter yourself." He spoke in a monotone voice. I froze, embarrassed that I had once again made a foul assumption about him.
"Are you going to tell me your name or not?
"I'm, uh- Violet. Violet Anders. Sixth year hufflepuff", I extended my hand to initiate a handshake, but quickly pulled back realizing how informal this meeting was.
"I'm surprised you're a hufflepuff, actually. Most hufflepuffs would be inclined to wear a bit more color to the ball, don't you think", sarcasm dripping from his voice as he eyed my dress once more.
