In the end, Dio was defeated. That night was the last time you saw him. You mourned him for years, deciding to never take another partner.
The Jonathan and Erina got married, deciding to spend their honeymoon in America. They faced Dio's head on that ship, but all you were ever told was that the ship's sinking was caused by engine failure. Now, on top of the death of your lover, you had to mourn the loss of your best friend.
While you never had any children of your own, your sister, Elizabeth, got married a few years after the events with Dio. She had a son, who you loved very dearly.
Honestly, this is the best way this story could end. Now that my book is written, I also think I have a pretty good title for it. It is a lesson that this story teaches, so I'll leave you with this:
