Dear readers,

Due to interest in an explanation (aka because I felt like it), I have written an extra part to explain the hidden meanings some may not have noticed. Comment if you already knew, had a vague feeling, or are noticing the hidden meanings for the first time.

The ides of March is simply the first full moon of the month, usually falling between the 13th and 15th day. In Roman times, it's a day for settling debts.

The debt Hoseok had was that he hadn't let go of his pain and anger that Essie was dead, but was rather bottling it up and not dealing with it. He owed Essie his negative feelings. Meaning, he had to give her his pain and anger so he could let go of it and start living his life unhindered by the past.

Keeping her memory is good, but the pain and unwillingness to let go of her made him force himself to not cry or just remember her without holding back, which kept him in limbo and dragged him down. He was in debtor's prison, so to speak.

I hope this explanation helped!

Appreciatively yours,
Ace💜

P.S.: Did you understand the description of the book? Essie "lives across the river". Any Greek mythology aficionados here? (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
