SEVERUS WAS OUT WALKING while waiting for Lily. They were supposed to meet at the great lake, but she wasn't there so Severus decided to walk around the lake while he waited. As he was walking he got lost in his thoughts and till eventually 20 minutes had gone bad and there was still no sign of Lily. Severus was beginning to worry when he saw her. Warmth spread through him at the sight of her although he would never admit it.

He didn't run up to her, he didn't, it was more of a fast walk. As he got closer he noticed she wasn't alone. Marlene McKinnon noticed him first and her smile seemed to drop from her face. She leaned in a whispered to Lily. The warm feeling was disappearing.

Lily turned around, "Hey Sev," she said while not making eye contact for too long, "What are you doing out here?"

Biting back his I go to school here, he said, "We were supposed to meet up at the lake, remember?"

She suddenly looked very uncomfortable, "Oh. Sev I'm so sorry I forgot. Can we rain check?" she took a step toward him and grabbed his arm for a quick squeeze, "I was going to hang out with the girls today."

The warm feeling was long gone and was replaced with a slight ache that he ignored, "No yeah that's fine. I'll just go...study."

She perked up, "Great! I'll see you later!" she beamed at him and then ran off when Marlene tugged her arm.

Severus stood there for a minute feeling stupid and cold. He snapped out of it when he heard the laughing of some boys. He wasn't sure if it was Potter and his gang, but he wasn't sticking around to figure it out.

"Hey, Severus, I thought you were with Lily?" Lacey asked, when he walked into the common room, not even look up from her essay.

"She's hanging with The Girls™️ today," Severus sat down with a sigh.

"But weren't you guys supposed to hang out today?" Lacey looked up from her essay and her eyebrows were furrowed.

"Yeah, but it's okay. She forgot."

"It's not okay, but okay." Lacey looked back down at her essay.

"It is okay though? She forgot. People forget things all the time it doesn't make her a bad person,"

Lacey sighed and calmly put her essay away. When she was done she studied him for a minute before saying slowly like talking to a rabid animal, "I didn't say she was a bad person—"
