Your POV

You were shocked, how could Sans not see Gaster? His own father nonetheless.

"Sans..."

"Yes Y/N?"

"How can you not see your own father?" He looks at me with confusion, almost as if you were pointing to air.

"It's..." Chara swallows, it's apparent that it is hard for her to actually say anything nice to anyone. "It's good to see you again, Gaster."

"Likewise..." Gaster says hastily, almost as if he was repulsed by the sheer sight of her. The more you think about it, the more you realize that she hadn't liked Gaster from the beginning, she did insult him when you two were at The Core.

"Y/N... a word please." Sans says, trying to pull you away from the two of them. you walk down a random hallway and stopped.

"Y/N, You know I love you right?" You nod and he sighs. "Then...are you ok? I'm just worried about you, you've been acting kind of weird lately, and now you're seeing things that just aren't there."

"But he-"

"No buts, I want you to go back to our house." You look down, you knew once Sans made up his mind there was no point in trying to convince him otherwise.

"I will but first, please just come with me. I have an Idea." He nods.

"Let's go back to The Core. If my theory is correct this should help you." You two walk back to Chara and Gaster who were awkwardly trying to be friendly but both you and Sans knew that it wasn't working, and it was also very painful to watch. You walk up to Chara and whisper the plan.

"I think I know the reason why Sans can't see Gaster."

"Oh really? What would that be?"

"Remember when we first met him we were by The Core?"

"Yeah why?"

"I think The Core may be the only thing that will help Sans see Gaster."

"So? What does that have to do with me?"

"Nothing really I just... I thought we were friends."

"Friends? you've got to be kidding me, I hang out with you for one day and you think that we've become buddy-buddy with each other."

"Chara it's not-"

"Forget it... I'm going... I don't know what's wrong with you." You tried to grab her arm but by the time you did, she was already gone. You walk over to Sans.

"Ready to go?" He hugs you and within a split second you are back at The Core.

"Why did you wanna go here anyway?"

"Just trust me." Sans lets go of you and steps back, within a few seconds, Gaster had teleported beside the two of you.

"D-Dad?"

"Hello Sans."

"I thought I lost you forever, how did you get here."

"I really don't know, but all that I know is that I'm here now."

"I have so much to ask you..." you smiled, this was one of the few times that you had seen Sans this happy. You turn to look at The Core, the black mist from before seemed to have moved ever so slightly.

"Hey you two, is there supposed to be this mist coming out of here." Gaster looks to where your pointing. A perplexing look lined his face.

"I...I've never seen anything like this..." Gaster says in disbelief. You walk a little closer to the mist and touch it, suddenly your surroundings turned black. You were in a room, no, not even a room, just a space, no one in it.

"Hello!" You called out, but no one came. After a few attempts you were back to reality.

"Sans...what just happened." He looks at you, still somewhat worried.

"You...You touch the mist and...and..." Sans tried his best not to tear up but you could tell that his whole 'I'm fine' act wasn't gonna work.

"Shhh...It's ok" you say to him, trying your best to comfort him. you hated seeing him hurt, especially since you were the cause. You pull Sans into a tight hug, tears hitting your F/C sweater, but you didn't care. You glance over a Gaster, who seemed to be trying to analyze the mist in some way.

"So Y/N...based on what just happened and my experience in the void, I think it's safe to assume that this 'mist' is actually the void."

"What" you look at him confused.

"I'll try to explain this as simple as I possibly can. The void is almost like a room, except for the fact that it is complete black and has no noise. Getting trapped in their could drive someone or something insane." He pauses and walks closer towards you, trying to move in a certain way to make it so that you can still hug Sans but at the same time only you would hear what he had to say. "If the void were to get out...then there would be chaos, people would die..." He grips your shoulder trying his best not to squeeze too hard. "We need to contain it before it is too late, I can try to do it myself but I don't know how long I will be able to maintain it." You nod sadly, you knew what the only option would be, it was either to reset or let all of monster kind be swallowed by the inky blackness of the void.

You and Sans were at home sitting on the couch, Paps had gone out with Mettaton for the night, it was still so great that they were together, Sans had invited everyone over earlier and told them all about the timelines and resets. Everyone there was shocked, this whole entire time they had been living the same types of life.

"You gonna stare a hole through me, kiddo" Sans says, you apparently had been staring at him this whole time. "So, what did Gaster tell you?"

"Sans...I"

"You what?"

"Gaster said that the mist was the void."

"...and?"

"I'm going to need to reset..."
