Jungkook is...baffled. Oh, there's plenty of reasons for that, but the main ones are the facts that he actually has a soulmate and that his soulmate (who is concussed) is working. Aren't you supposed to avoid overexerting yourself when you're injured?

Jungkook.exe does not compute.

When he first met her, he wasn't expecting anything at all. After thousands of people claiming to be their soulmate, showing off obvious tattoos or unrelated Marks, Jungkook was, quite honestly, done with their bullshit. If he had to hear another person whine about how they must be soulmates, he was going to lose it!

He was already on edge from making a mistake in the choreography of Blood Sweat & Tears, and this farce wasn't helping any. He might not have looked it, but all the members could tell that Jungkook was ready to explode.

They had finally gotten down to the last person—after this, they could go back to the hotel and sleep. Everyone shared a glance and seemed to unanimously agree that they would end the interview as soon as possible.

Jungkook was prepared to not say anything; he'd let the others handle this one. At least, that's what he was planning on doing. The moment he saw Akari walk in, however, derailed all of his plans.

(And he couldn't help but be grateful for that.)

He had suddenly felt an overwhelming nervousness. The same kind of nervousness he had felt right before auditioning for the third season of Superstar K. The same kind of nervousness he had felt when he had accepted BigHit's offer instead of the countless other ones he had received.

The same kind of nervousness that always, always prefaced a life-changing moment.

His exhaustion had slipped away in the face of it, and his leg started to bounce underneath the table. Anxiety and excitement were both evident in his features. Jimin had just given him a concerned glance when she walked in.

The world screeched to a stop. Not a living thing moved for one breathless second, the moment stretching on and on.

He had greedily taken her in, eyes raking across her form. He saw the way she unconsciously fidgeted with her hair, tucking it behind her ear. The worried way she bit her lip, gnawing gently on it with her teeth.

As she explained her story, his nervousness only grew. What would he do if she wasn't his soulmate? Because it already felt like he was in love with her.

When she stopped to wipe away her tears, the only thing his mind could focus on was the uncontrollable urge to take her in his arms and comfort her. Whispering reassurances in her ear while calming her down.

The same question went through his mind—what would he do if she wasn't his soulmate? Jungkook already knew that he'd do anything to make sure he could see her again.

Luckily, he didn't have to worry about that.

When she took off her hoodie, he was, at first, confused. His confusion only increased as she asked Namjoon to move over to her. Then, he saw the words resting delicately on her collarbone.

Words he knew were from one of Namjoon's songs.

A quiet hope had begun to rise within him, climbing higher and higher with each Mark she revealed to them. (She was singing them—how cute.)
