Amity tapped polished nails against the table, golden gaze following the hands on the clock. Her mind felt abuzz with the wrestling of demons and anxieties, unconsciously tapping her nails on the table even harder. 'Why did Boscha have to be so mean? Luz wasn't even doing anything.' Amity wasn't sure why it bothered her so much, she had only met Luz briefly, the girl didn't even have a reason to come over to her during lunch. But titan how she wished she had told Boscha to leave her alone, to have gone off with Luz and the twins to who knows where. Guilt twisted her heart in her chest as she remembered the hurt expression on Luz's face as she left arm and arm with her siblings. A bit of anger followed the guilt, at first at her siblings but then to herself for just sitting there for letting Boscha hurt innocent Luz like that. Amity sighed, tapping hand coming to a rest on the table as her free one ran through her hair.
The monster bell screeched a dismissal of their final class, Amity felt her heart plummet again as she realized now she would be returning home. The witch couldn't help but drag her feet as she left the classroom to meet the twins at the gate, her gaze stayed to her shoes as she made her way.
"You know, you should be nicer to your friends." It was Emira, Amity looked up to see her siblings glowering down at her with arms crossed. She felt her face flush red with anger.
"She's not my friend." Amity hissed, guilt instantly twisted her heart again but she didn't let it show. Instead pushing past her siblings to start her journey to the market, not ready to return home quite yet, no one was there anyways.
Edric and Emira were right behind her, the matching disappointed expression turned down to her made her even more annoyed. "Maybe you should give her a chance like she tried to give you." Edric snapped, Amity's face grew even redder. She wanted so badly to tell her siblings she felt guilty for what she did, to confide in them about the weird pull she had to Luz, the curiosity she couldn't shake about the girl. But she shoved it down instead.
"Whatever." Amity simply replied, speeding up to get away from the Blight twins. They could've easily caught up to her if they had tried but they seemed done talking with her, instead heading off on their own path. Amity huffed as she made her way through the market, noise of vendors drowned out by her own twisted around thoughts, she kept her eyes to the path unable to focus.
Before Amity could quite grasp what was happening something had flew past her foot, catching her ankle and yanking her off her feet. Amity yelped, back smacking into the stone path with a snap, a few passerby's flinched at the sight. Amity felt winded, huffing as she tried to suck air back into her lungs, face once again hot with anger and embarrassment. Whatever had tripped her before had come back, a wet nose was sniffing her over, Amity sat up to screech at whatever foul creature had crossed her path but when the girl finally managed to sit up again she froze. The creature did too, their eyes locking in shock.
It was the wolf from before.

"Meet me at the market after school King wants to go to the playground! >:)"
Luz snorted at the text she had received from Eda as she exited her final period. She was always happy to take King to the playground; he was always so cute with all the kids. Luz stuffed her belongings into her locker, having been so excited to start at magic school she may have done a bit of light reading with her text books and may have been a week or two ahead.. She couldn't help it, truly it was just so fascinating. But luckily being ahead almost meant Luz would have less to carry, and have no reason to not shift into her wolf form to make her trip to the market quicker. Sneaking towards the back of the school with the intention to hide among the bushes there before shifting she was soon stopped as a familiar three eyed witch passed her line of sight.
She was completely unaware of Luz's presence, and while the girl normally had a handle on her emotions ever since the curse had been laid on her she had a much harder time keeping herself tame. Before much thought could be processed Luz was creeping along the halls, eyes flashing amber as she followed Boscha who was talking snidely to a girl Luz did not recognize. As Luz crept closer she began to hear what they were saying, or more what they were laughing about.
"You have got to be kidding, Amity wouldn't!" The stranger was cackling in laughter, Boscha snidely chuckling as well. Luz had definitely been hurt by Amity's lack of response but now curiosity was getting the better of her. 'And she's still my friend even if she doesn't know it.'
"Oh but she would, I saw it all over her notebooks." They burst out laughing even louder and Luz tilted her head in confusion.
"She's what 16 now? Who watches kids cartoons at 16?" They cackled in laughter and Luz stiffened as she realized they must've been laughing at her drawings.
"And the Good Witch Azura too like, isn't that for babies?" Had Luz not been so angry she might've been excited at the prospect of having something to bond with Amity about, but now wasn't the time. A growl was coming from Luz; her usually dark eyes were now an eerie orange. Amity hadn't stood up for her but in her mind they were still friends, her heart was screaming enraged at the fact that Boscha would speak so awfully about Amity, friends protected friends.
Luz wasn't sure when she shifted but thankfully she was pretty sure no one had seen her, but now she was barreling towards the pink witch. Pinning her ears back as she braced for impact she heard a startled scream as she toppled Boscha over. Along with the laughter of anyone who had seen her nearby, she could hear the girl screaming curses behind her but she didn't falter instead putting on a burst of speed as she tore out of the school and down the road to the market.
It was bustling with people, Luz felt a warmth spread over her as the familiar scents washed over her. The lovely scents however were easily her downfall, she had become distracted and bowled right into another person. Skidding to a halt, instantly turning tail and running back to check on who she had hit she felt immense guilt wash over her. 'Oh please be okay!' She silently pleaded as she approached whoever it was she had knocked over, sniffing over her frail body for any sign of injury. Instead she was gifted with the scent of raindrops filling her lungs. A groan came from the girl she had knocked over as she stiffly sat up, turning golden eyes on her assailant Luz felt her heart plummet, scream with need and do a flip all at once. 'You've got to be kidding me.'
Amity. Her face went through a rollercoaster of emotions within seconds, pain, to anger, to embarrassment and finally to recognition. Luz couldn't help but feel burning hot under her pelt from the guilt of knocking over her potential friend. But also, karma. Amity sucked in a deep breath after gawking at the wolf for a moment, staggering to her feet to stretch herself out.
"You need to be careful, doofus." Amity had attempted to sound harsh but seemed to be unable to keep up the act, melting a little at the sight of Luz's wide puppy-like eyes looking up at her. After a moment of hesitation she reached out her hand, Luz happily rubbed against it. An apology and forgiveness in one fluid motion. "You must've been in a rush, where you off to?" Amity cooed, her eyes suddenly softer than before. Luz considered her next plan, if she went and took King to the playground Eda would know that Luz had formed a bond with someone in this form. But if she led Amity somewhere else, she could get to know the girl more. Her heart deemed that the choice was obvious, her mind made up, Luz slipped her head down, running behind Amity and slipping herself between the girl's legs before she could do anything except give a startled yelp. Amity clung to her back as Luz easily lifted the witch from the ground, Luz wasn't very strong in this form yet but Amity was light enough that she put no strain on her limbs by slipping the now blushing witch onto her back. 'She feels so small.' Luz couldn't help but notice, Amity's warmth sending a tingle down her spine.
Before Amity could even open her mouth to ask questions Luz was tearing down the road, a screaming beat red Amity clinging to her back.

When Luz finally put on the breaks, skidding to a halt in the forest Amity had stopped screaming and was instead giggling happily as she clung to her canine friend. Dropping down to a lying position, sides heaving with pants, Amity slid off her back to sit beside Luz to stare around the gorgeous scenery with stars in her eyes. It had been the river bank where Luz King and Eda had spent many late summer nights star gazing, her and King trying to catch bugs together, Eda watching them with fake annoyance. Luz longed for those nights back but as she gazed at Amity's excited expression she couldn't help the feeling of lightness in her chest.
They stayed like that for a while, Amity looking about her surroundings as Luz stared up at her, it was comfortable. It was a freedom they both desperately craved, the air felt nice in their lungs. Amity was the first to break the trance, gently swatting at Luz's ear as she flicked it in a lazy response.
"Some warning next time you decide to take me on a joy ride." She scolded her, Luz would have laughed if she were able to. For now she stayed quiet, just wagging her tail in response. Amity rolled her eyes, visibly relaxing as she stretched herself out to lean again Luz's side. The wolf girl watched, amber eyes intrigued by Amity's much more relaxed attitude. "I'm happy to see you honestly." The witch finally murmured, polished fingers now dancing through Luz's fur to give gentle scratches in the best places. Luz's tail thumped as she turned her ears to face Amity. "I had a rough day." She finally admitted, rolling her head back to let herself go limp over Luz's back.
Luz cocked her head to the side, suddenly aware of the way Amity's eyes seemed less sharp, her body not strained with a constant tension, she looked smaller than Luz remembered her to be. "I don't get to tell anyone when I've had a rough day though, I'm just expected to deal with it because that's how Blights are meant to do things." Amity's fingers motioned sarcastic quotes as she uttered her last name, her voice was almost tired, still the same sharpness to it but starting to shake. Luz felt her heart ache a little, the need to protect Amity overrunning her small hurt from before. All was forgiven in Luz's eyes.
'I'll listen when you have a rough day.' A whine came out of Luz's throat, it was all she could do to keep her words inside. Amity smiled at her sadly, reaching a hand out to scratch behind Luz's ears earning some more thumps of her tail as her eyes crunched closed in bliss.
"I wish you could come visit me every day, I could tell you everything and you'd never tell a soul." Amity's voice became even smaller now, wistful even, the wolf cracked open her eyes to stare up at her friend again.
'I can do that. Your secrets are safe with me.' A small twist of guilt pulled at her heart, it didn't feel right to listen to her secrets when Amity didn't really know who she was. 'If we're going to become friends anyways it's ok right?' Luz's reasonings were faulty at best, but her heart was pulled to Amity, to be her friend, to protect her, she couldn't let her down. 'I'll tell her, I'll tell her one day and it'll be ok.' Luz found herself curling herself around Amity, plopping her head into Amity's lap to let her run her hands over her head, the witch giggled and happily obliged.
"I hate Boscha." Amity finally muttered, a snort escaped Luz before she could control it but Amity didn't seem to notice. "She's so mean! For no reason that human didn't do anything!" Amity's voice was shrill, arms flailing dramatically and cheeks turning a light red from anger. Luz's ears perked at this, 'So you did care?' She thought smugly. Amity's petting got a bit more aggressive now, not painful or anything but definitely more aware. "The human is.. sweet." Luz glanced up at this, finding herself holding her breath as Amity chose her words. "She liked my drawings, no one likes my drawings." Amity muttered in a way that Luz couldn't distinguish as good or bad, but Luz couldn't help but feel a bit sad understanding how Amity felt. She got made fun of a lot in school too, not in the same way but it all felt the same deep down. An annoyed sigh escaped Amity as she retracted her hands and tucked herself into a bundle. "Why do I care so much?" The witch growled, Luz's eyes softened. A beat of silence passed, Luz keeping her amber eyes on the flustered girl.
'You need something to cheer you up.' Luz finally decided to herself, though she would've loved to hear Amity's thoughts on her she couldn't bear to see Amity upset anymore.
Luz pulled herself to her paws, nudging Amity's shoulders to get the witch's attention and a pair of narrowed yellow eyes stared up at her. Luz yipped at her earning a curious tilt of her head, pointed ears twitching unconsciously. Luz resisted the urge to faun. 'That was your warning.' Luz shoved her head under Amity, flipping her easily onto her back with a small scream of surprise.
"What are you-" SPLASH!
Luz had jumped into the river, Amity who desperately clung to her back had gone with her. The initial scream made Luz chuckle, the spluttering incoherent insults that followed almost made her howl with laughter. Amity sucked in a breath, most likely to hurl some more insults at Luz, but before she could get a word out Luz dived down into the water. Fish swarmed around them, plants rising from the bottom like a great jungle, it was quite gorgeous. Luz turned back to make sure Amity was still attached to her, she was clinging to shoulder fur and legs wrapped around her middle, she looked furious. Bubbles escaped Luz's jaw as a chuckle escaped her, pumping her legs she brought them to the surface once more.
Amity sucked in a breath. "YOU-" Gasp. "Are-" Gasp. "DEAD." Luz smirked, keeping her head forward to avoid Amity's furious gaze.

Amity's shoes were still squishing by the time she and her companion started their trek back home, the sun was well past set. One hand curled over herself while the other clung to the wolf's back fur, she had tried to stay mad but now a soft smile had stayed plastered on her face. Golden eyes strayed down to look down at the dog, though she had only seen the canine yesterday she could've sworn her muscles were more toned now. It was odd but Amity brushed it off as not noticing the muscles before. The more pressing matter was the now soaked bandages wrapped around a foreleg, she hadn't seen it until now and a pang of worry shot through her.
'Do you live with someone?' She wondered briefly. They twisted around the last corner, the odd pair enjoying the oddly comfortable silence that they found in each other's company. Amity dreaded coming home to the deathly cold silence, her parents wouldn't be home until the day after the next but explaining her damp clothes to her siblings seemed less than desirable. Sucking in a deep breath as they entered the front yard Amity considered going through the back door, her companion seemed to take notice. A soft woof caught her attention and she forced a grin in her direction.
"Don't worry, I just don't want to go through the front door." Amity could've sworn she saw a worried expression cross the canine's features, she must've imagined it and she pushed the thought away. "My parents aren't home, I'm okay." She added quickly, she felt a bit embarrassed for thinking the dog could understand her but it was comforting nonetheless. It was like talking to her abominations but less sad, she didn't have to create this creature to talk to.
This seemed to ease the wolf's worries, turning her attention back to the mansion, cool calculating eyes running over the path before her. 'Guess I just got to get it over with.' Amity sighed, stepping forward to accept her fate hoping none of the maids caught her to tell on her, but she was quickly cut off by her wolf companion blocking her path. She raised a brow, uncertain of how she should take the motion but when the wolf bent down Amity smiled gently. 'Message received.' Amity had quickly learned to accept rides from the wolf, it was better than the alternative of being thrown onto her back like a limp sack of potatoes. The witch was raised from the ground with a small eep, the wolf was always gentle but it was still startling to be lifted up like this. Though she doubted the creature would ever hurt her, she was far too gentle.
Slowly padding forward to the side of the house, gazing up at the windows and then towards Amity. She scrunched her brows in confusion before slow realization crept up her spine. 'She can't make that jump can she?'
"Uh- It's the third window." Amity spoke carefully, unsure why she was even telling the creature where her bedroom window was, the wolf turned back carefully creeping to the third window. Sizing up the distance Amity realized in horror that this wolf somehow some way seemed to understand her and was not bunching up her haunches to leap. "Wait!" Too late. Her startled yelp was followed by a scream of fear, silently praying that she had left her window unlocked as she buried her face in the shoulder fur of the wolf. When Amity looked up again they were in her room, glass windows unbroken thankfully. A sigh of relief escaped her, dropping to the floor of her room relieved but glaring at the wolf. She just thumped her tail happily, seemingly very proud of herself.
"Why do you do this to me?" Amity muttered, the wolf tilted her head in reply. Amity ran a hand through her messy hair, trying her best to keep up the glare on her face but a smile broke through. "Thank you." She finally murmured, reaching a hand out to scratch behind the wolf's ears quickly. 'Maybe you can understand me..' Amity considered the idea, gently reaching out to grip the dog's face, pulling her up to make eye contact. The thumping of the tail stopped as orange stared into gold.
"Do you know what I'm saying?" Her eyes were sharp again, the dog stiffened in her hands. A moment of hesitation passed. Then a nodd, Amity's eyes went wide. "Can you talk?" Another nodd, Amity bit her lip wondering what to ask next. "Will you talk?" This time she got a shake of the head no, a frustrated sigh escaped her, letting go of the wolf's large head to cross her arms over her chest. "Not fair." The dog snorted in a way similar to a laugh earning her another glare from Amity.
"Can I get your name at least?" The wolf seemed to consider this, before giving a quick nodd. Victorious Amity grinned, jumping up to find a pen and paper, briefly wondering if this would work. But as she placed the objects before her she seemed to take to them easily, gripping the pen in her mouth in an odd way before writing a single letter on the page. "L, huh?" The wolf, L, nodded, tail thumping proudly, this time Amity was the one to laugh.
"Well I'm Amity." L yipped as if to say hello, earning another giggle from the green haired witch. Amity considered her next question carefully, returning to chewing on her lip. "Can I hear you talk some day?" L seemed to consider this for a moment before nodding a quick yes. A grin spread across her face. 'Close enough.' Amity accepted the answer for now, she would earn her wolf's trust soon enough. 'Is she a wolf if she can talk? Maybe she's a werewolf? I thought they were extinct..' Amity tried to wrack her brain for what to say next but the pair froze as faint footsteps came from down the hall. "Oh no. They can't see you." L seemed to understand, pulling herself to her paws and rushing towards the open window. Amity reeled around, panic suddenly gripping her at the thought of her friend leaving. "Wait!" The wolf obeyed, turning her eyes to look at Amity over her shoulder. Amity's heart hammered in her chest, she felt like she was being pulled towards the window but her feet stayed rooted to her spot. The witch desperately wanted her to stay, swallowing past the lump in her throat though she knew she couldn't. This was goodbye for now.
"Come back tomorrow, ok? I'll leave my window open." Amity's voice sounded more pleading than she had meant it to, but L's tail wagged. A quick nod in reply and she flew out the window once more, gone as quickly as she had come. Amity felt giddy, relieved to know she would return. until she realized that she was still in soggy clothes and the twins were approaching fast. 'Oh I hate you L.'

When Luz finally returned to the owl house, a soft smile plastered on her face as she happily trotted in. Ignoring Hooty's shrill greeting she was met with King waiting on the couch, a death stare meeting the werewolf the second she stepped through the front doors. 'Oh crud. The park.' Smile wiped from her face, Luz opened her mouth to explain but King was too quick.
"Where have you BEEN?" King's angry shriek made Luz flinch, Eda's snorting laughter could be heard from the other room. The werewolf shrank, shooting the little demon the most apologetic look she could muster. She was definitely in for it now.

A/N: And Luz was never seen again because King ended her for forgetting about the park.
