Poem 11: Elegy to You

In loving memory of _________
Maybe to you it's only a sentence
but I can touch that gravestone as much as it touches my heart
And he's never coming back

I still feel like touching you
But there's nothing; there's nothing...There's nothing at all but your gravestone.
Putting my fingers against my chest
I can almost hear your heart beating too....two hearts are mine.

The path is cloudy, the road shudders
Maybe I've had too much wine
Maybe it's your ghost haunting me; haunting me till I die.
While in the blood of my soul and the pee of my brain I lie.

I know one day; one day the Lord will take me in his arms
And comfort me against his beating heart
Because he knows what life's like to me
And to live and let live all that surrounds and is in me.

So I'll wish you a joyful day ... today
May you stay on top of everything that ever goes wrong for you on the way
And know that somewhere out there His hand rests on your hair
His voice whispers in your ear to make you know that He cares...
He'll always be there for you, with you, above you.

If you'll only listen.
If you'll only listen.
