"Rogues"

As soon as that word left Cassie's mouth, I panicked. Caleb told me what rogues are and how ruthlessly they behave.

Then it struck me and I turned towards Cassie.

"If you know that rogues are here then why did you stop the fucking car here. Cassie come on, we need to get out of here as soon as we can and get back to the-

What the fuck! Where the hell is she going?

I know many might think it is stupid of me but I stepped out as soon as Cassie did and followed her. She is my friend and i can't let her be alone when the danger is near.

"Cassie , what are you doing? Didn'tyou hear me? I said we need to get out of here as soon as possible, not out of the car", it seemed as if she is sniffing the air.

"I can smell him. My mate", she purred with joy.

And I stood there dumbfounded. What should I do now? I mean of course it is a good thing. But is her mate a rogue?I mean I am not judging   in fact I will be happy if she finds her mate but what if he is like the rogues Caleb told me about. What if he hurts her?

The thought send a pang of hurt inside me.

"Hey, don't you think if it is one of the rogues then you should just mind link and tell Rey to come and maybe then look out for him. I mean what if he's .."

"What do you mean?", she interrupted me and she sounded hurt and angry.

"He is my mate. Of course,  he won't hurt me"

"But I-"

She raised her hand up indicating me to stop.

"Please, I've waited long enough", she said and I could feel it in her voice that she is yearning for her mate.

I just let her be and followed her when we suddenly heard a growl.

Two half naked men came out of the bushes and are  standing in front of us and they both looked very strong. Their whole body was flexed with muscles and I was scared until Cassie ran up to the blonde guy and hugged him.

"Mine", he growled. His fangs were already out. I just smiled at the sight. Finally she meets him, but it was short lived as her mate pushed her away as soon as he claimed that she was hers. And for a moment, it looked like he is having an inner turmoil.

Why would he do that?

Tears started running down Cassie's face.

"I don't want a mate", he said bitterly.

"But I can use you as a bait to get what I want", a dark smirk made it's way up his face. He started walking towards her while eyeing her like a hawk. She looked broken and isn't even moving away or attempting to do something.

I knew what is about to happen so I immediately picked up some soil from the ground because nobody seemed to have notice my presence. I stepped forward.

"Leave her alone", I said strongly. I don't know from where this confidence came but I stood up to them.

The moment his eyes landed on me, they widened. I was about to throw soil in his eyes and make a run with Cassie when he suddenly interrupted-

"YOU", he said in surprise. "What happened to you?", he sounded worried.

What? What happened to me?

I scrunched up my nose in confusion. I looked at Cassie,  and she understood what I was trying to say. She mindlinked Rey and Caleb.

"I can't sense your wolf"

"That's because I am a human. Now you've already hurt my friend here so please leave", I spat.

"Not without you"

"What?", I am literally so confused.

"You don't remember me Elyza. I am your b-

A loud growl interrupted our conversation and I turned around to see two wolves, the one with the hypnotizing golden eyes, Caleb. And the other is Rey, I guess.

As soon as the two intruders in front of us saw them, they turned and ran away.

They were out of our sight in a jiffy and I just stood there as I saw Rey and Caleb chasing them. I turned around to see Cassie on the ground on her knees and her head bowed down in defeat.

I quickly pulled her into a hug.

"I waited so long... I did I-I never-r", she found it hard to speak between muffled sobs.

I rubbed her back while engulfing her in a hug.

"It's going to be alright. You are a good person Cassie and moon goddess would never pair you up with someone who doesn't treat you like you deserve to be treated", I said trying to calm her down even though I myself wasn't sure about it after seeing how her mate behaved.

"You heard him. He doesn't want me", she yelled. "I waited. All these years. I never even think about dating another guy when all the girls my age were busy with their boyfriends just because of my mate. And he doesn't want me. He is going to reject me", she was furious.

"Cassie, lis-

Before I could say anything, she let out a loud growl and turned into her grey wolf and sprinted away and I just stood there watching her as she sprinted away. I did not stop her because when there's a storm approaching you don't stop it, you just let it be.

And right now, Cassie is a storm filled with lava of anger.
