Hey all! How has everyone been?
I'm not 'back' back, but I am finding time to write. Will update accordingly. Hope you all are doing good!

This chapter might feel unexpected, surprising, even early on. But I planned it this way. I'll explain why if anyone wants to know.

"Can I ask you something?"

He felt Annika nod, with her head still on his shoulders. He was unsure whether it was the right time to ask her what he had been wondering for a while. He almost said it was nothing, but by now she was already looking at him. Her eyebrows bobbed and probed wordlessly, and he took her hands in his.

"Why are you hesitant?" She questioned, a little confused.

"I'm curious..." Shivaay stated but immediately went silent. Annika waited for him to say more, and when he didn't, she asked.

"Incomplete sentences are open to interpretation, you know. You could be curious about how to murder someone without getting caught or how to fold your shirt Marie Kondo way. You could be curious about your sexuality or how tampons work. I can go on, but I think you get my point." Annika stated, earning an incredulous look from Shivaay. She frowned and asked, "Was it any of the things I said?"

"No. I'm just wondering how you went from murder to menstruation."

Annika simply shrugged and said, "You clearly haven't seen a pad at the end of the day. It looks like a massacre in your underpants."

"Don't show it to me, please. Blood makes me nauseous."

"What would you do when I go into labour? And if they decide on Caesarian, they'll take out my organs and..."

"Stop," Shivaay said, closing his eyes as he tried not to picture it. "I will prepare myself when the time comes," He paused for a second and looked at her, "You think about things like that?"

"You don't? Or do you not want kids? We should have talked all this before we got married..." Annika bit her lips and looked at him from the corner of her eyes. Shivaay chuckled and shook his head.

"Not any time soon, but someday." He tucked the strands of hair that had fallen near her eyes and ran his fingers down her cheek. She looked at him, dazed. "Annika, I wanted to know something. I don't know if I should ask..."

"You can ask me anything." Annika promptly replied.

"Why did you open up to me?"

"Yesterday...?" Annika's eyes withheld confusion.

"No... You let me in easily right from the start. You had other people you could have... but why me?" Shivaay asked, and he saw Annika reply without batting an eyelid,

"Because you didn't treat me like I was broken. You didn't tell me you understood what I was going you, instead you tried to. You didn't tell me you'd be there, you just were." Annika replied earnestly. One of the things that amazed him about her was her honesty. She divulged conversations all the time, but whenever she spoke, she spoke nothing but the truth.
