Julia Towns-Simmons POV
It was 30 minutes till the plane landed.
I just wanted to get off this thing, between the crying of the babies and thinking about Karl I was getting a headache. By the way, the crying babies weren't mine. They belonged to the couple that was sitting behind Olivia and me. The little rascals wouldn't shut up.
"Excuse me, sir, Are you guys still serving drinks?" Liv asked the flight attendant that passed by.
"Yes we are ma'am," she said.
"Ok well, I'm gonna need a whiskey on ice please."
"Maybe I see an I.D.?"
Liv handed her I.D. to the flight attendant, she then had left and had come back a short while after with Liv's drink.
"Here you are, ma'am." She placed a napkin on Liv's foldable table and placed her drink on it.
"Thank you."
"Is there anything else that I can get you, ma'am?"
"That will be all. Thank You," said Liv.
Not even a second later after the stuartist turned around, Liv was almost finished with her drink.
"Really?" I asked.
"Those damn kids," she said.
She was referring to the kids behind us. Our kids were sound asleep. I had turned around once to see what the fuss was all about.
The mom of the two kids looked at me."How old are they?" I asked.
"Four and two," she said pointing at each one.
"Cute," I said and turned back around.
Cute?
I didn't know what to say. I had just turned around to be nosey and not chit-chat with her, but she had caught me looking.
An hour before this, the man next to her was asleep. He had one kid and she had the other one. When I turned to talk to her, he was still asleep.
"Poor her." I thought.
It looked like she was the one who was always dealing with the kids. If he hadn't woken up in an hour and not done anything, I don't think he does anything on the regular.
Nothing compared to Karl and me. I mean, I don't like to compare couples and their dutiful parenting skills but Karl was always there when I asked him to change Marcus's diaper or to feed him. The dude looked like he did one thing and sleep was his reward.
"What?" asked Liv, taking me out of my train of thought.
"Nothing. Just thinking." I said/
"About?"
"How things were different before this happened."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Not here," I said.
"Got it. When we get to your house we'll open a bottle of merlot and speak on things." Said Liv as she took the last sip of her whiskey.
The plane landed and went to baggage claim. Once we had all of our things, I received a text from Karl.
'Serge is outside waiting for you guys.'
Serge was Karls driver.
He had sent me another text but I decided not to read it. I turned off my phone and put it in my purse.
Serge came out of the Tahoe and helped us with our things.
"Mrs.Towns, Miss. Simmons welcome back."
"Thank you, Serge."
While Serge loaded up our luggage, Livput it in the baby seats.
"Alright I call shotgun," said Liv.
"How old are you?" I asked chuckling
At Home:
Since
"What happened to Devin's ex-girlfriend?" asked Liv
"Sophia? She's in London. Why?"
"Nothing really....."
"What? Why are you asking about Sophia?"
"It's just that I feel that Lilian isn't the right one for him."
"Ok? Why are we talking about this? Are you high or something?" I asked.
"No! Julia. I mean I have a love for the girl. She has a wonderful soul and all. But sometimes I just think that she is just with him just to be with him. Just for the kid. I can see how it hurts her."
"Maybe, but I feel like they both are trying after their fall out."
"Yes, but at what point is it gonna be about them getting back together and not getting back together for the cameras."
"When did you know it was time to leave Stephen?"
"To tell you the truth, when Savannah was born. When they put her on my chest I looked into her eyes and knew that to make her happy I had to be happy."
"I know she isn't happy with him but I talked to Devin and he told me they were doing fine. I had made lunch plans with Lillian when we were down there but she had canceled on me. I asked if everything was okay and said it was and I haven't talked to her since."
"When was this?"
"Two weeks ago."
"I just hope if they do separate the kid isn't affected," said Liv as she was fixing her pillow.
"Yeah me too. Good night.
"Do you remember the day when we went to the zoo and Ben got lost?" Asked Liv.
"Of course I do. It was one of Ben's 'pivotal moments'" I said air quoting.
"What about it?" I asked.
"When they were looking for him, I told dad that I needed to go to the bathroom but instead I walked around the exotic animals that were caged and just sat there and thought these animals will have to live their whole lives caged in these cages, but at least they will know what to do."
"Ok?"
"Well we aren't caged, we are giving free will on how to live our lives as opposed to them.
Right now I wish I was a caged animal so I could at least know what to do."
