The sun shines through the cracks in the blinds, shinning right in my face. I yawn, stretching and accidentally hitting the arm of the body next to me. He groans and I curse under my breath as I turn to face him.
"I'm sorry." He groans again, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into him. I giggle tiredly as I try to pry myself out of his grip. "As sweet as you are, I would like to go to the bathroom."
"5 more minutes. It's early." He says groggily, eyes still closed.
I kiss his jaw, still wiggling my way out. "Listen, unless you want me to piss in the bed, I need to get up."
Finally giving in, he lets go and I rush to the bathroom to relieve my bladder. I wash my hands and brush my teeth after, looking at myself in the mirror. Even with my bonnet on and eye crusties, I look damn good. And I'm glowing. My left hand rests on my ever growing tummy where my unborn son is fluttering away. I groan, looking at my hand and realizing that I slept in my wedding ring again. One day, I'm gonna lose this thing and my husband will be so mad. He won't be too mad, though. He can't be when I agreed to marry him and the fact that I'm carrying his kid.
I leave the bathroom that's in our bedroom and look toward the bed, seeing him sprawled out and dead asleep. I quietly make my way out and to the next room to check on our 4 year old daughter Liah. She's sound asleep and I quietly close the door as to not wake her. I make my way into the kitchen, looking through the fridge to find something to cook. I'm starving, seeing as I'm feeding for 2. I pull out bagels, eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, and orange juice. I'm not feeding just me, so this will do.
"Harly?" I turn to see a sleepy Jaesun coming into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes. "What are you cooking?"
"All this." I point, pulling him into a hug. "Look good?"
He nods, yawning and stretching. "Where's daddy?"
"Still asleep."
"Would he be mad if I jumped on the bed to wake him up?"
"Yes." We both laugh. "You know your dad works hard. He deserves to sleep in."
"You're right."
I start preparing the meal and Jae helps me as we talk. It seems like only yesterday, a 4 year old Jaesun was sticking blueberries on his Mickey Mouse pancakes. It's insane to think that he's almost 9 now and I'm his step mother. And my sweet, smart 8 year old Soojin is already a 13 year old young lady. Time really does fly. These 5 years with the Kim's has been amazing. And I'm so proud to be carrying our second child together.
Soojin comes whistling down the stairs, and humming into the kitchen. She plants a kiss to my cheek as she opens the fridge and grabs a bottled water. "Mornin', Harly."
"Good morning, kiddo. What's got you in a good mood?"
She shrugs, sitting at the island and taking a sip of her water. "Nothing. Just got off the phone with My'oni."
"How is she?"
"Sick of mom's crap." She laughs.
"She's sick of Jiwon already? She's not even 6 yet." I laugh with her, cracking eggs into a bowl to scramble them. "Sounds like she's just like her big sister."
"I had a good reason." She defends. "She's just being dramatic because she's spoiled. But can she come over for a little bit tomorrow? She said she misses playing with Liah."
"Ask your dad when he wakes up. I don't mind, though."
When Namjoon and I first got together 5 years ago, he started working out his differences with Jiwon, to successfully coparent the kids. He even allows her daughter to come spend time with us when she wants to see her siblings. He has forgiven Jiwon, but has not forgotten the shit she has put him and the kids through. That's another reason why I love him. He puts his children at the forefront, and made sure that he was at and understanding with their mother so that they can grow up being loved and taken care of by both parties.
Through these last 5 years, I have seen the best in him, and I have seen the worst in him. We unexpectedly bore a daughter, and planned our son. We got married, and I got to visit South Korea to meet his family. He's even gotten to meet my mother and my siblings. This was a hell of roller coaster I have experienced with Namjoon, and I honestly wouldn't trade it for the world.

"Go finish your homework, Jae. You don't have much left."
He groans, but puts his Nintendo switch down and goes to his room. I sigh, putting the dishes into the dishwasher and straightening up the kitchen. Liah comes running into the kitchen, whining.
"You need to walk in the house, honey. What's the matter?"
"I want daddy." She cries, rubbing her eyes.
I wipe her tears away and smile at her softly. "Daddy will be home in a minute. Why don't you go draw him a picture? He has had a long day and will be so happy to see that when he gets here."
"Okay, mommy." She sniffs, running back to where she came from.
"And stop running in my house!" I yell to her and she instantly starts walking. I shake my head, finishing my cleaning. "Jinnie, can you start the laundry?"
"Sure." She gets off the couch and goes to the door that leads to the basement. "Jae and Liah's clothes today, right?"
"Yup. They're already down there."
She nods and goes to do what I ask. I love these kids so much. It's crazy to believe that I started out as their nanny. I've been in their lives for almost 10 years. Even before I became apart of their family, I was their family. I made it to soccer games, dance recitals, plays, and basketball games. I've thrown parties, gone to parties with them, gone on play dates, and held them. I was doing things that a mother does even before I was a mother. I had that huge responsibility as just a nanny. That would have scared someone away, but not me. I had that bond with the kids before I knew I would become their bonus mom. Call it a hunch, or just coincidence. I love these kids as if I had them myself. They have my heart and I have theirs.
Sitting on the couch after I have done my cleaning, Liah comes and shows me the picture that she made for Namjoon. Jaesun has me checking over his homework that he has finished, and Soojin brings out nail polish and asks me to polish her nails. So I do just that. I end up doing her and Liah's nails, while Jae gets the switch going and they all start playing Just Dance. I smile and laugh as I watch the kids dancing their asses off and sweating. They even get me to do some dancing, which I tap out after the 3rd song. Baby Namjoon isn't having any of that tonight.
The door opens and closes swiftly and I turn around to see Namjoon coming in. Liah spots him before the other kids and she screams happily as she tackles his leg in a hug.
"Daddy, you're home!"
"I am." He chuckles. "What you all up to?"
"Dancing." Jae says, flailing his arms with Jin as they dance.
"You know I'm a dancing monster, right?" He loosens his tie and kicks his shoes off, joining the kids in dancing.
I laugh, pulling out my phone to record them. They are all laughing and everything about my life is amazing. I have amazing kids, and and even more amazing husband. I couldn't ask for anything better.
