Prologue: Two Kingdoms, Both Alike in Dignity

Long ago, two kingdoms were at bitter war with each other.

One kingdom was the Kingdom of Mobius. This kingdom thrived due to an understanding between humans and the various anthropomorphic creatures that existed in harmony nearby. Led by a council with Queen Aleena as the head, this kingdom took their machines and nature, existing in a perfect balance. Magic was deemed not important, thus giving way to a more modern society.

The other kingdom was the Kingdom of Canterlot, named for the capital city. Unlike the Mobian kingdom, this kingdom consisted of humans who might have pony-dimensional counterparts someplace else. This kingdom was led by Queen Celestia and Princess Luna. The citizens of this kingdom thrived on magic and to think it was irrelevant was unacceptable. Thus, all citizens knew one or two things about magic.

No one knew exactly when the feud between the kingdoms started. Some say it began with the rulers before Celestia and Aleena. Others say it began with Celestia and Aleena. And there are some that say that the feud was there from the very beginning of time. Most of the neighboring nations and kingdoms, such as the Crystal Empire and Soleanna, tried to stay away from the feud, believing that they would work it out on its own and that there would be no need for intervention. So they looked the other way when the feud began and even when it began to get a little bloody in certain battles.

But everyone soon knew the day the feud heated up quite possibly beyond repair -- the night Princess Twilight of Canterlot met Prince Sonic of Mobius.
