Besides leading Victor to each of his classes, we didn't interact much until our period before lunch. We had to sit next to each other again for Math. As the teacher went on to talk about graphs I felt a little bored and peeked over my shoulder to see what Victor was doing. I noticed that he was doodling a butterfly on his worksheet.
     "That looks nice," I complimented.
"Thanks," he answered obviously flattered. Then out of nowhere we heard,
"Victor! Are you paying attention?" Oh no, I should've known better than to distract him in Ms. Bates class.
"Oh, w-why yes, of course!" he replied.
"Prove it. What's the answer?" She layed her finger onto the white board without breaking eye contact. The class was silent, waiting for her to give him detention or a long lecture. But it was only a moment before he answered.
"X equals eighty-nine miss." My mouth fell open. He definitely wasn't paying attention. Did he just solve that in a second? Ms. Bates seemed slightly disappointed but impressed all the while.
"Good job," she said with a twisted smile. Then in a rigid movement she continued her lesson. I looked at Victor and he sighed as he slouched in his chair.
"I'm sorry for distracting you," I apologized.
"It's no big deal," he said hesitantly. I still felt bad but decided not to push it. I didn't want to get him in even more trouble so I didn't talk to him for the rest of the class period. When the bell finally rang though I waited for him in the doorway, and when he walked out I followed him.
"Hey, how did you solve that problem so fast?"
     "I don't know, I'm a quick thinker I guess."
"You're smart, that's what you are," I smirked. Did I just flirt with him? He blushed and quickly changed the topic.
"So...can I sit with you for lunch?"
"Yeah of course, after all, it's not like I have anyone else to sit with."
"Me too actually," we laughed at each other for a moment then made it to the cafeteria.
