Liliana's POV
Malfoy and I walked side by side down the, thankfully, deserted halls. Malfoy had somehow changed back to normal after being reassured I was alright, and after a small scolding from professor McGonagall. I still haven't gotten a clue as to what had just happened, everything seemed to have gone by so fast. Even after years of being threatened to death by Voldemort, losing my loved ones and getting shot by the killing curse only to survive it again, I have never been more surprised or confused in my entire life.
Malfoy, the Draco Malfoy, had just turned into some kind of creature, saved me from Smith and practically killed him as well. The Draco Malfoy had called me his mate. The more I thought about, the more unbearable the throbbing pain inside my head became. Maybe I should've gotten my head checked out on the way to the hospital wing.
We approached the gargoyle that guarded headmistress McGonagall's office entrance. Before I could even open my mouth to guess what the password could be, Draco simply muttered 'Cattus' as if he'd used the password to get in several times already.
"How'd you know the password?" I ask in confusion as the gargoyle moved aside to reveal a moving stairway. Draco just shrugged, walking forward and stepping onto one of the moving stairs. I follow him as well, extra cautious to keep my distance. Since our whole journey here, he hadn't muttered a single word, but his side glances didn't go by unnoticed.
We reached the top of the stairway and opened the passageway door that led to professor McGonagall's office, she had told us to wait for her while she made sure Draco hadn't done any permeant damage to Smith. I was still surprised that McGonagall didn't seem shocked or upset about Draco's appearance when she had caught us in the hallway earlier. She didn't even seem angry, just slightly annoyed and tired, as if she'd expected something like this to happen.
I walk into her office, unaware that I had just been standing by the passageway like a complete idiot. The office hadn't really changed much since the last time I came here, the sorting hat was still staring at me from it's spot on the shelfs, stacks of paper were scattered all across the desk table and there were two chairs in front of the wooden desk. Behind Professor McGonagall's desk table the large portrait of headmaster Dumbledore was placed, and beside it was Snape's portrait as well. Dumbledore smiled knowingly at the both of us, almost as if he's been expecting us. Draco mumbled a good afternoon to both of the portraits before gracefully taking a seat on one of the provided chairs.
"Good afternoon professors," I address them with polite nod and smile as I walk over to the other chair and take a seat.
"Good afternoon Liliana, how are you? I heard that your brother has decided to not join you back this time." Dumbledore asks me, his baby blue eyes twinkling mysteriously. Snape merely snorted. "One Potter back is more than enough, Albus." He said, looking at me in slight annoyance.
I smiled at him, even though I would usually be annoyed by his rude comments or remarks, I found it quite welcoming. Somethings never change.
-----
A few minutes of silence pass. I fidget in my seat, awaiting the headmistress' arrival, she seemed to be taking awfully long. My head was still throbbing slightly, I probably should've gotten that checked. I glance over at a very bored looking portrait of Snape and a very annoyed Draco, who was ... glaring at my chair?
"Um, Malfoy-"
"Draco." He cut me off, still not quite meeting my gaze.
"Right uhhh, what exactly is so interesting about my chair?" I ask, weirded out since he had been glaring at it since I've first sat down.
