3. Being a Leader

I woke up. I think it was the next day. I got out of bed and walked towards Beck, Fury and Maria Hill.

"How are you feeling, Zee?" Hill asks.

"I'm feeling better", I said. "How long was I out?"

"All night", Beck said.

"I don't know what happened. I just-"

"It's okay, Zee", Hill said.

"Parker will be here real soon", Fury said.

"You're going to kidnap him, aren't you?" I asked. Fury and Hill nodded. I put my head in my hands. "Why? Just Why?"

"Oh no. You're coming with us", Fury said.

"Say what?"

"If you attempt kidnapping Peter Parker, you'll live", Fury said. "Let's go".

"Parker. Parker!"

Peter turned around to look at us. "Yes, sir", Peter said.

"That thing is going to be here in a few hours. Are we boring you?" Fury asked.

"He's not bored. He's just thinking about how you kidnapped him", Beck said.

I laughed. "You should have seen his face", I said, amusingly. "His reaction. Priceless. I loved it. I would really want to do that again".

"He had obstacles. I removed them",Fury said.

"They still won't evacuate the city",Hill said.

"Idiots", Me and Fury said in unison.

"So what's the plan, Parker?"

"I will be in the cathedral tower, keeping watch for the fire monster. When that shows up, I will radio you guys. And me, Mr. Beck and-" Peter was cut off by Quintin.

"My name is Mysterio".

"That's when, Mysterio, Gemerald and I will move in", Peter finished.

"Peter, listen to me. The best hope you have, the only hope, is to stop it here and now. No matter what the cost. Move it away from civilians if you can. But most important, keep it away from metal. If it gets to big, it'll be able to drop power from earth's core. After that, there's no way to stop it",Quintin Beck explains.

"Hey, man. My friends are here and I can't help, but think we're putting them in danger", Peter said.

"You worry about us hurting your friends? You call a drone strike on your own school tour bus", Fury said.

"Fury, I'm sure it was-" I was cut off by Fury.

"Zia, you do not talk right now", he said. Fury looked at Peter. "Stark gave you a multibillion dollar AR tactical intelligence system. And the first thing you do with it, is try to blow up your friends. It's clear to me that you were not ready for this".

I looked at Fury in shock. I looked at Peter to see the hurt expression on his face.

"Peter", I said.

"No, he's right. I'm not ready", Peter said. Peter walked out of the room.

I looked at Fury. "Fury, you were too hard on the kid", I said.

"I was to hard? Did you not hear that conversation? He's worried about his friends, but he's the one who sent a drone to eliminate them", Fury said.

"I'm sure he didn't mean to".

"Stop sticking up for him".

"No, I won't stop! He's been through a lot in his life and you're treating him like you treated me when I was child".

"You went through a lot too. If I didn't treat you the way I did, you wouldn't be who you are today".

"Oh please. I was born like this".

"No one is born with that much sarcasm and anger", Beck said. I glared at him. "Sorry".

I looked back at Fury. "He's not me, Nick. He lost his parents, his uncle, and he hasn't seen or heard from Tony for...a long time. Technically, he lost him too", I said.

"Is that supposed to make me feel bad?" Fury asked.

"You are unbelievable! I'm trying to say that Peter doesn't need your harassment! He needs your support!"I snapped. The room fell silent. "This is new to him. He's scared. He needs someone to tell him he can do this, not someone who says he isn't ready. Someone like Tony, but he isn't...he's not here. So it has to be one of us".

I walked out of the room to find Peter.

I flew towards the top of the building to see Peter, sitting on the roof. "Hey kid", I said. I sat down next to Peter. "He treated me the same way when I was younger, but it just means that he cares. Even the great Nick Fury has a heart".

"He treated you like that?" Peter asked.

"Yeah. I had one hell of a childhood. But that's a story for another time. You've been through a lot. Tony told me. You need someone to tell you that you can. Someone to bring you up, not bring you down. I'm always here if you need that someone to be me. You're a great kid, Peter. A big brain and a big heart", I said.

"Thank you, Zia", Peter said. "What was your childhood like?"

I chuckled. "I'll tell you later", I said.

"Do you really think I can do this?"

"Of course I do. You're the best chance we got. We just want you to help us with this mission. Then, you can go back to impressing your girl

Beck flew up to the roof. "I guess that's my cue", I said. "I'll let you two have your...boy talk. Remember what I said, Okay, Peter?"

"Okay. I will", Peter said.
